Job Description

OTERO COUNTY TRANSFER
STATION, Alamogordo, New Mexico is recruiting for a
SOLID WASTE SUPERINTENDENT.

Exempt Experience Required :
Six to nine (6-9) years of experience working at a landfill or transfer Station which included operating heavy equipment.
Minimum Education Requirements:
High School Diploma or equivalent.

This employee primarily works in an office environment.
Certification:
This position requires a valid CDL New Mexico license.
Job Summary :
Oversees and participates in the work projects and assignments of personnel, of employees assigned to a solid waste transfer station and operates gas- and diesel-powered construction and maintenance equipment. Essential Job Functions An employee in this position may be called upon to do any or all of the following essential duties:
  • Interview and hire employees; plan, assign, and direct work; appraise performance; reward and discipline employees; address complaints and resolve problems.
  • Plans, prepares, and issues daily work schedules for assigned personnel.
  • Plans, prepares, and maintains department budget.
  • Find new markets for recycled materials.
  • Inspects county waste transfer station to assure proper maintenance and control operations.
  • Performs preventive maintenance and supervises and participates in the construction, maintenance and control of county transfer station.
  • Issues assignments and use of transports gas- and diesel-powered construction and maintenance equipment.
  • Monitors work to ensure personnel follows safety procedures.
  • Requisitions items needed for daily operations.
  • Responsible for knowing and abiding by all department and county policies and procedures.
  • Work on a variety of special projects as assigned.
  • Other duties as required.
Salary:
