Supervisor of Vehicle Maintenance, NFTA-METRO

Position Summary The Vehicle Maintenance Supervisor oversees daily garage operations, vehicle maintenance, facility upkeep, and maintenance staff to ensure a safe, reliable fleet for transit operations. This role is responsible for supervising employees, managing preventive maintenance programs, coordinating repairs, and maintaining compliance with safety and regulatory standards. Key Responsibilities Supervise vehicle maintenance staff and daily garage operations Ensure buses and facilities are safe, clean, and ready for service Manage preventive maintenance schedules and repair programs Coordinate with outside contractors and vendors Monitor compliance with DOT, OSHA/PESH, EPA, and safety regulations Assist with budgeting and resource management Conduct employee training, evaluations, and disciplinary actions as needed Support maintenance of transit centers, loops, buildings, and grounds Participate in 24-hour operational coverage as required Qualifications Associate degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Diesel, or Automotive Technology preferred 7+ years of related transit or vehicle maintenance experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience Prior supervisory experience strongly preferred Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills Computer proficiency required Physical & Work Environment Position requires occasional lifting (20-50 lbs.), bending, climbing ladders, and working in shop and field environments around vehicles, equipment, and varying weather conditions.
