Job Description

SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE
Provide day-to-day supervision of the vehicle maintenance garage and facility mechanics. Also ensures that vehicles are properly maintained to minimize down time and maximize the value of the agency's investment. Also helps to ensure a safe and efficient transportation department for Citizen Advocates. The lead mechanic works with the Transportation Manager in the implementation of performance based on evaluations for the agency mechanics. Essential Functions (Job Duties) Oversight and implementation of transportation needs and vehicle maintenance plans Supervise and coordinate maintenance of agency fleet vehicles. Develop and implement safety programming for the transportation department Maintain a Valid New York State Commercial driver's license (Class B) Establishes goals and standards of performance for all mechanics Evaluate mechanical problems in vehicles using diagnostic equipment Help mechanics evaluate mechanical problems, and inspect repairs completed. Complete and review performance evaluations for all direct reports and take corrective action as required Assist Transportation Manager with interviewing new mechanics. Assist with and recommend for secession planning of all department staff Maintains Computerized Vehicle Management System, effectively assigns work for laborers Estimate time and materials required to perform major repairs Analyze engine performance and perform tune-ups as needed. Maintain accurate, updated preventive maintenance records. Help train mechanics and mechanic helpers Ability to operate equipment and tools involved in vehicle repair Ability to pass required driver safety training and physical Ensures accuracy and timely completion of all mechanical work preformed Maintains agency compliance with regulations set forth by all state and federal regulations and CEO. Perform periodic internal reviews so to ensure that regulations of all government agencies are met. Ensure proper reporting of all incidents as required by regulatory agencies and internal procedures. Assist with all required reports and special tasks as required including periodic updates as instructed by immediate supervisor or other management as required. Follow agency guidelines set forth by program Policy and Procedure Manual. This is a full-time position.
Workweek schedule:
Monday through Friday.
Hours of work:
____7:30 a.m. to ___4:00_ p.m. Hours and schedules may vary depending on Company need and workload. Employees will be given as much advance notice as possible when such changes occur. Travel will be necessary when needed to maintain working vehicles. Bachelor's Degree in Management or Three years' experience Five years' experience in related fields with progressive supervisory experience Maintain company requirements for driving agency vehicles and POVs Must have a valid Driver's License.
