Responsibilities include planning, organizing and directing programs to provide ascertained levels of excellence on the campus and all college properties inside and out. Responsibilities also include coordination of grounds and custodial activities with other Facilities departments and with various other college departments and outside contractors. Principal Accountabilities Plan, prioritize, and manage daily grounds maintenance programs aligned with seasonal, campus, and weather conditions to ensure appearance, plant health, cleanliness, and safety standards Collaborate with the Director and other departments to establish departmental goals, objectives, and performance metrics Supervise, train, and provide technical guidance to groundskeepers and student employees; inspect completed work to ensure quality, safety, and compliance with standards Coordinate and oversee contractor work to ensure alignment with College standards and needs Develop, manage, and monitor the Grounds department budget to ensure quality in supplies, materials, and equipment Initiate purchases of supplies, tools, and equipment in accordance with established purchasing procedures and inventory controls Plan and manage a preventative maintenance program for all Grounds equipment to maximize equipment life, safety, and reliability while minimizing breakdowns Plan for short
- and long-range equipment replacement Maintain records including chemical applications (fertilizers, pesticides, cleaning supplies), MSDS sheets, equipment inventory, manuals, and technical updates Operate the Central Irrigation Control System and manage related scheduling via Outlook Monitor weather conditions and direct all snow and ice removal operations (excluding parking lots), including hand shoveling, deicing, and coordination with Facilities Operations as needed Manage the interior plant maintenance contract Assist Planning and Construction with new projects, including plan critique, contractor liaison, and project development Maintain a priority system for emergency response based on customer needs Review and update the Snow Removal Procedures Manual and Irrigation Procedures Manual annually Requirements Minimum of a High School diploma required; Associate's Degree in Turf/Landscaping/Horticulture Technology or related field preferred Minimum of 7 years facility operations experience required Minimum of 3 years of supervisory experience required; 5 years preferred Must hold State of Ohio Licensed (Ohio Department of Agriculture) Pesticide Applicator required Ability to proficiently utilize Microsoft programs to include but not limited Word and Excel required Ability to track and monitor tasks and budgets utilizing computer programs required Ability to utilize a Computerized Central Irrigation Control System (water management) required Ability to utilize the email carrier system as a communication and scheduling tool (currently Outlook) required Ability to utilize a Computerized Work Management tool required Required Management skills•Organization and Prioritization, Human Relation skills Conflict Management Customer orientation Perform under pressure Insect and Disease Identification Determine proper treatment•Knowledge of options, their use, and supervise treatment application
