Job Description:

ROAD SUPERINTENDANT

Trumbull Township is seeking a qualified and dependable Road Superintendent to oversee and manage all township road operations, infrastructure maintenance, and seasonal services. This position requires hands-on leadership, technical expertise, and the ability to manage a small team while ensuring township roads and properties are maintained safely and efficiently.

Responsibilities:

Supervise and provide leadership to 13 part-time employees, Plan, coordinate, and perform road maintenance and repair projects, Oversee seasonal mowing and vegetation control, Perform snow and ice removal including plowing and salting, Maintain township cemeteries and grounds to include digging graves, Manage culvert installation and drainage improvements, Operate and maintain equipment including road grader, dump trucks, plow trucks, and mini excavator, Inspect roads and identify maintenance needs, Schedule and prioritize daily and long-term work, Maintain records of work performed and equipment maintenance, Ensure compliance with safety and OSHA standards, Assist with budgeting, purchasing, and inventory, Coordinate with contractors and government agencies, Respond to emergencies such as storms, flooding, and hazards.

Qualifications:

Valid Class A CDL (Required),Experience in road maintenance, construction, or public works, Experience operating heavy equipment (grader, maintainer, excavator preferred),Ability to supervise staff and manage operations, Strong mechanical aptitude, Ability to work independently and make decisions.

Work Conditions:

Outdoor work in all-weather conditions, Overtime required as needed, primarily in winter months, On-call availability for emergencies, Physical labor and equipment operation required

Employment Requirements:

Must pass a background check, pass a pre-employment drug test, Subject to random drug testing at the discretion of the Board of Trustees Recreational marijuana use is not permitted for employees.

Supervision:

Reports directly to the Trustee assigned to the Road Department and works under all three (3) Township Trustees. The Road Superintendent is expected to follow the direction and vision established by the Board of Trustees. Additional Information Employment is at-will in accordance with Ohio law. The Road Superintendent is expected to demonstrate professionalism, accountability, and commitment to public service.
