Maintenance Manager - Water Reclamation Department

The City of Solon has an opening for a full-time position of Maintenance Manager in the Water Reclamation Department. Job Summary The Maintenance Manager oversees the maintenance and operations of the city's wastewater treatment systems. This position supervises staff, ensures regulatory compliance, manages equipment and maintenance programs, and supports the safe and efficient operation of wastewater collection and treatment facilities. Key Responsibilities Supervise and train Water Reclamation staff in maintenance, operations, and safety procedures. Plan, schedule, and participate in wastewater system maintenance and operational activities. Oversee maintenance of sanitary and storm pump stations. Monitor and maintain the facility SCADA system. Compile operational data for monthly NPDES permit reporting in compliance with regulations. Conduct facility inspections to ensure equipment is functioning safely and efficiently. Manage materials, supplies, and equipment for assigned operations. Investigate and respond to resident inquiries and service issues. Ensure proper execution of contracted construction and maintenance projects. Participate in department meetings and safety programs. Remain on-call 24 hours for emergencies when necessary. Minimum Qualifications Education Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Biology, Chemistry, Public Health, Civil Engineering, or related field Equivalent experience may substitute for formal education Experience Minimum 4 years of progressively responsible experience in maintenance or wastewater operations Certifications & Licenses Ohio EPA Class III Certification License Grade I Maintenance Technologist Certificate Valid Driver's License Confined Space Entry Training Forklift Certification Knowledge & Skills Knowledge of wastewater treatment processes, equipment, and collection systems Understanding of chemical and biological treatment processes Ability to supervise staff and coordinate departmental operations Strong communication and leadership skills Ability to operate department equipment and vehicles when required Work Environment This position involves both office and field work. Employees may occasionally work outdoors in varying weather conditions and around mechanical equipment, chemicals, and wastewater treatment processes. This position is Grade Level 15 on the City's pay scale with a starting salary range of $71,210.14 - $99,694.20. City benefits include medical, prescription, dental, and vision.
