The Wastewater Superintendent works under the general direction of the Deputy Public Works Director and is responsible for planning and coordinating the operations and maintenance activities of the City's Wastewater Department. As Superintendent, the incumbent would hire, train, supervise, and evaluate the work of the Wastewater Utility Crews, and assist work crews with difficult jobs as needed.
The Wastewater Superintendent position provides an excellent opportunity for a motivated individual with knowledge of wastewater collection systems, exceptional leadership and customer service abilities, and the ability to prioritize multiple aspects of work.
Ensures computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) and other enterprise management systems are utilized and leads the wastewater collection program in implementing best utility management practices.
Maintains record system for utility service including determining records to keep, the filing system used and updating new certificates and legal documentation.
Acts as a liaison with other department heads and the general public, including resolving conflicts associated with services provided and determining courses of action.
Monitors and maintains inventory for required supplies including determining levels of supplies and scheduling deliveries. Assists in developing budget for utility service including making recommendations for capital purchases and staffing levels.
Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.

The Position:
The Wastewater Superintendent oversees the City's wastewater collection system including ensuring compliance with wastewater codes, standards, laws and regulations; establishing, implementing and enforcing policies and procedures. Additional responsibilities include; remaining current with changes in laws and regulations, managing contracts with outside vendors, performing field inspections and, maintaining equipment used in delivery of service.The Department:
Operations is a division of the City's Public Works Department and includes Streets, Stormwater, Wastewater (collection only), Water (distribution), Motor Pool (Fleet) and Facilities. From emergency preparedness to routine scheduled maintenance activities, the Operation Divisions' objective is to set the standard for efficient and effective customer service.EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Supervises support staff including prioritizing and developing work plans, evaluating staff performance, monitoring progress on projects, interpreting policies and procedures, making hiring and termination recommendations, making pay rate change recommendations and providing training and development for staff.Ensures computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) and other enterprise management systems are utilized and leads the wastewater collection program in implementing best utility management practices.

SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
Non-cash compensation includes medical, dental, vision, PERS employee pick up, and VEBA contribution.Bilingual Pay:
Employees who can speak and/or write a language listed in the top five (5) most common languages spoken in the Lake Oswego School District, may be eligible for three percent (3%) bilingual pay.Application Process:
