Schedule:
10:30PM to 7AM or 7PM to 3:30AM plus OT as needed
Purpose:
The Base Maintenance Group Supervisor is responsible for executing and supervising preventive and corrective mechanical maintenance activities for the Shredder Line, Mobile Equipment, and other related Yard maintenance activities, ensuring safe, reliability, and continuous operation of production assets. The role contributes to equipment reliability through hands-on troubleshooting, preventive maintenance compliance, systematic failure analysis, and support to the Engineering area in the evaluation and start-up of new equipment.
Main Responsibilities:
  • Execute and supervise preventive and corrective mechanical maintenance activities for the Shredder Line, mobile equipment, and yard-related systems, ensuring safe and compliant execution.
  • Apply HSE requirements in daily maintenance work, including inspections, risk analysis, and implementation of safety improvements.
  • Perform hands-on troubleshooting of mechanical and hydraulic failures, conducting root cause and performance analysis to define corrective actions.
  • Execute preventive maintenance plans using the CMMS / UPTime system, ensuring completion, accurate records, and follow-up of deviations.
  • Monitor and update maintenance KPIs related to preventive maintenance compliance, equipment availability, and downtime.
  • Support spare parts and materials management, including identification of critical spares, SAP material codification, and warehouse coordination.
  • Coordinate daily maintenance activities with technicians and contractors, ensuring availability of resources and proper execution of work.
  • Support Engineering during equipment evaluation, installation, and startup of new or modified equipment.
Skills and Qualifications:
  • Advanced technical knowledge of mechanical and hydraulic systems in the steel manufacturing industry or similar high‑degradation industrial environments. Desirable exposure includes shredder lines, conveyors, separation equipment, and utilities.
  • Experience maintaining industrial mobile equipment such as material handlers, forklifts, skid steers, and trucks.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex mechanical and hydraulic failures.
  • Working knowledge of predictive maintenance techniques, including vibration analysis, oil analysis, and thermography.
  • Experience using CMMS systems for inspections, work orders, and maintenance tracking.
  • Knowledge of spare parts management, material codification, and warehouse operations.
  • Proficiency with computers and mobile devices, including basic Excel reporting for materials and downtime analysis.
  • Proven ability to lead and train technical teams, coordinate with other areas, and work under pressure.
  • Availability to work a Monday to Friday shift from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., with flexibility for on‑call support.
  • Willingness to participate in international travel to collaborate with other facilities for benchmarking and knowledge sharing.
