Job Description:
This is a senior-level, hands-on technical leader responsible for supporting daily maintenance operations, mentoring technicians, coordinating work across shifts, and ensuring equipment reliability across production and facility systems. This role provides advanced electrical, automation, and mechanical troubleshooting, reinforces safety and compliance. Key Responsibilities Technical & Operational Leadership Perform advanced troubleshooting and repair of injection molding presses, robotics, conveyors, chillers, dryers, temperature controllers, grinders, and auxiliary equipment. Diagnose and repair electrical issues, including AC/DC drives, motors, motor controls, relays, sensors, PLC hardware, and low-voltage control systems. Read, interpret, and update electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, PLC I/O layouts, and equipment manuals. Lead complex preventive and predictive maintenance activities to reduce downtime and improve reliability. Coordinate maintenance response during breakdowns and prioritize work orders to support uptime, OEE, and scrap-reduction goals. Facility Electrical Systems Install, maintain, and repair electrical distribution systems, including 480V 3-phase panels, breakers, disconnects, and conduit. Ensure all electrical work complies with
NFPA 70E, NEC
standards, and Carclo electrical safety policies. Support lighting upgrades, energy-efficiency initiatives, and facility electrical improvements. Automation & Controls Assist with troubleshooting PLC-controlled systems (Allen-Bradley preferred). Support installation and modification of automation, robotics, and control systems. Collaborate with engineering and maintenance leadership on continuous improvement and equipment upgrades. Mechanical Support Provide mechanical troubleshooting and repair support involving hydraulics, pneumatics, and general machine maintenance. Replace mechanical components such as pumps, valves, cylinders, belts, and bearings. Team Leadership Provide day-to-day direction and technical guidance to maintenance technicians on shift. Assist supervisors with scheduling, shift coverage, and workload coordination. Reinforce expectations for safety, quality, professionalism, and documentation discipline. Leadership Development & Succession Shadow Maintenance Supervisor/Manager responsibilities, including planning and coordination. Participate in vendor interaction, project support, and continuous improvement initiatives. Demonstrate leadership readiness through performance, decision-making, and team influence. Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certification or trade school preferred. 5+ years of industrial maintenance experience in manufacturing or plastics. Advanced troubleshooting skills in electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems. Ability to read electrical schematics and PLC documentation. Demonstrated ability to lead work activities and mentor others. Strong commitment to safety, compliance, and documentation accuracy. Preferred Qualifications Experience with injection molding equipment, robotics, and automation systems. Working knowledge of Allen-Bradley PLC troubleshooting. Prior leadership, training, or lead-technician experience. CMMS and continuous improvement project participation.
