Job Description

Job Overview Crescent Designed Metals (www.crescentmichaels.com) is seeking a smart, dedicated, motivated Leader for our Custom Architectural Metal Fabrication Shop. The successful candidate will have a solid foundation in fabrication & shop machinery, an ability to manage people and processes, organize and problem-solve and a desire to learn and improve their own knowledge. Must have an ability to work & communicate constructively as part of a team. In this pivotal role, you will oversee daily shop operations, manage plant, equipment and a skilled team of fabricators, and ensure that all projects meet the highest standards of quality, safety, and efficiency. Your leadership will drive the successful execution of complex and varied metalwork projects, from initial blueprint interpretation to final fabrication, fostering a collaborative environment that emphasizes craftsmanship and precision. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated professional passionate about managing both people and fabrication processes. Responsibilities Supervise, coordinate and track all shop activities, ensuring timely completion of projects while maintaining safety and quality standards. Lead and manage a team of 10+ shop fabricators, welders & finishers, providing guidance, training, and performance feedback to optimize productivity. Distribute work/tasks amongst shop-workers in a way that effectively achieves all completion and quality targets for all items / projects. Manage the Production Schedule, understand priorities and maintain optimal productivity. Identify impending schedule issues early and alert management. Maintain all plant and equipment and identify and direct improvements, repairs and maintenance as needed. Review & understand fabrication drawings in order to interpret project requirements accurately. Oversee shipping, receiving, shop equipment, material & consumables procurement, inventory control, and workflow scheduling. Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and enforce safety protocols across all shop operations. Conduct quality control checks throughout fabrication processes to verify adherence to project specifications. Collaborate with design team, project managers & management on project scheduling and fabrication details. Implement best practices to streamline operations throughout the fabrication process. Consistent and dependable attendance is an absolute requirement Qualifications Proven management ability. Supervising experience in a fabrication environment / metal shop setting. Strong knowledge of blueprint reading and fabrication processes. Visible, active leader, motivator and decision-maker with the ability to motivate teams and foster a collaborative work environment highlighted by a desire throughout the organization for continuous improvement and pride in quality. Know what you don't know. We do not necessarily expect you to be an expert at our various fabrication processes. We will expect you to lead, manage, learn and improve every day collaborating with and utilizing the existing expertise in our existing team. Respectful, Professional and Effective Communicator and Listener including in stressful situations. Strong communication skills for coordinating & planning with shop workers, design and project management teams & management. Pay:
$80,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year
