Just 10 minutes from Downtown, Shannopin is a private, member-owned club offering full-service amenities in a welcoming, family-oriented environment. Position Summary The Maintenance Director is responsible for the overall maintenance, repair, and safe operation of all club facilities, buildings, and systems. This position ensures that the property is maintained to the highest standards of quality, safety, and efficiency while preserving the historical integrity of the club's 100+ year-old infrastructure. The Maintenance Director oversees a team of custodians and maintenance staff, ensuring all work is completed in a timely, professional, and cost-effective manner. Key Responsibilities Oversee daily maintenance operations for all club facilities, including clubhouse, pool, racquets, fitness, and surrounding grounds. Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs for HVAC, plumbing, electrical, pool, and mechanical systems. Maintain and troubleshoot complex building systems, including boilers, chillers, and historical infrastructure elements. Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations related to building safety, pool operation, and pesticide application. Manage and schedule all custodial and maintenance staff; provide leadership, training, and performance evaluations. Coordinate and oversee vendors, contractors, and service providers for repairs, inspections, and major projects. Prepare and manage maintenance department budgets, ensuring cost control and accurate forecasting. Maintain accurate records of maintenance schedules, inspections, safety protocols, and certifications. Oversee pool operations, water quality, and safety protocols in accordance with health department regulations. Lead and participate in renovation, remodeling, and improvement projects in coordination with the General Manager and committees. Respond promptly to maintenance emergencies and ensure minimal disruption to club operations. Develop and enforce departmental policies and procedures to ensure efficient and safe operation. Monitor and maintain compliance with environmental standards, including chemical handling and storage. Qualifications Minimum 5 years of experience in facility or maintenance management; private club, hospitality, or institutional experience preferred. Strong working knowledge of HVAC systems, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, and boiler operations. Experience maintaining and troubleshooting systems in historical or legacy buildings preferred. Excellent organizational and leadership skills; ability to manage and motivate a team of custodians and maintenance staff. Strong project management, budgeting, and vendor coordination experience. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical manuals, and safety regulations. Working knowledge of building codes, OSHA regulations, and safety best practices. Certified Pool Operator (CPO) and Pesticide Certification preferred. Proficient with maintenance management systems, scheduling software, and record-keeping tools. Strong communication skills and professional demeanor with members, staff, and vendors. Reporting Structure Reports directly to the General Manager. Physical Requirements Must be comfortable using ladders at extensive heights. Must be able to lift 50 lbs. This position also includes frequent standing, walking, lifting, bending, stooping, and squatting. Must be able to work outdoors. Why Work With Us?
