Only 45 minutes from Salt Lake City International Airport and mere minutes from the world-renowned Deer Valley Resort and Sundance Mountain Resort, Wasatch Mountain State Park boasts an expansive state park, an Olympic venue, 72 holes of stunning mountain golf, and nearly 200 campsites surrounded by miles of ATV, hiking and biking trails. Qualifications Perform general maintenance activities, including basic construction, plumbing and electrical work. Train and develop staff, assign work, and support personnel actions including discipline, corrective actions, hiring and termination. Operate heavy equipment such as backhoes, tractors, UTVs, mowers and snowcats. Read and interpret maps, plats, charts, plans, blueprints, and schematics and provide multiple problem-solving options when needed. Use and maintain a variety of hand tools, as well as power tools such as band saws, rip saws, chainsaws and drills. Operate and maintain a water system that provides water to campsites and buildings. Ability to supervise staff by communicating clearly, assigning work effectively, and evaluating performance accurately. Basic computer skills and relevant experience. Knowledge of park management, including operations, budgeting, maintenance, interpretation, resource protection, inter-agency cooperation, and long-range planning. Strong leadership skills. Excellent public communication and customer service skills. Effective problem-solving abilities.
Preferred:
Leadership training and practical implementation. Administrative skills, including HR practices, scheduling, budgeting, cash handling, and planning. Inclusive leadership and team-building abilities. Strong collaboration skills, with experience working effectively across multiple divisions. Work may involve physical exertion, including long periods of standing, walking over rough or rocky terrain, and frequent bending, crouching, stooping, stretching, or reaching. A valid driver's license is required to operate a motor vehicle on state highways, per
UCA 53-3-202
(1)(a). The position may also involve exposure to potentially hazardous or unusual environmental conditions, such as extreme weather, remote wilderness areas, or work on watercraft and OHVs.
Responsibilities:
Inspects and maintains facilities, machinery, equipment, systems, etc. Coordinates and completes projects to complete projects to improve and maintain Quail Creek State park. Reviews and/or inspects work for quality, accuracy, and completeness. Schedules and conducts building and ground inspections. Prepares, manages and tracks budgets, pays invoices and ensures state purchasing laws are followed Supervises volunteer and seasonal employees, including training, coaching, and working with people to complete tasks Develops appropriate safety and service plans to alleviate risk, provide protection, etc. Identifies, collaborates and assists in solving maintenance and construction problems and issues.
Qualifications:
A current Class A CDL is recommended. Strong leadership, mentoring, and coaching skills. The ability to communicate effectively through verbal and written means. Skills and training in large equipment operation, including backhoes, skid steers, dump trailers, etc. Skills and training in plumbing, electrical, mechanical, welding, etc. An understanding of government operations, rules, policies, purchasing, etc. Ability to complete projects and plan effectively.
Preferred Qualifications:
The ability to supervise others by communicating effectively, establishing work assignments and effectively evaluating work performance. Must have basic computer skills and experience. Knowledge of equipment and facility maintenance procedures and processes. Leadership skills. Customer service skills. Problem-solving skills. Knowledge of State Park processes and operations.
