Are you ready to turn your skills into a rewarding adventure? Come work for Utah State Parks on the Northeast Region Crew, based out of Jordanelle State Park. In this role, you'll help State Parks along the Wasatch Back with big construction and maintenance projects including installing docks, fixing water and sewer lines, building roads and campgrounds and so much more! Put your skills to the test, grow and learn, as this job exposes you to every aspect of State Park operations. You'll be a mentor on this small team while keeping our parks beautiful, functional, and unforgettable for our visitors. Jordanelle State Park is one of the most beautiful State parks in one of the most coveted areas of Utah. With year round recreational opportunities and incredible weather. Working with a team you will be responsible for keeping our grounds and buildings in excellent shape. You will supervise volunteers and employees to achieve the goal of creating a clean safe facility for people to enjoy. Qualifications Responsibilities:
Inspects and maintains facilities, machinery, equipment, systems, etc. Coordinates and completes projects to complete projects to improve and maintain Jordanelle State Park park. Reviews and/or inspects work for quality, accuracy, and completeness. Schedules and conducts building and ground inspections. Prepares, manages and tracks budgets, pays invoices and ensures state purchasing laws are followed Supervises volunteer and seasonal employees, including training, coaching, and working with people to complete tasks Develops appropriate safety and service plans to alleviate risk, provide protection, etc. Identifies, collaborates and assists in solving maintenance and construction problems and issues.
Qualifications:
Strong leadership, mentoring, and coaching skills. The ability to communicate effectively through verbal and written means. Skills and training in large equipment operation, including backhoes, skid steers, dump trailers, etc. Skills and training in plumbing, electrical, mechanical, welding, etc. An understanding of government operations, rules, policies, purchasing, etc. Ability to complete projects and plan effectively.
Preferred Qualifications:
The ability to supervise others by communicating effectively, establishing work assignments and effectively evaluating work performance. Must have basic computer skills and experience. Knowledge of equipment and facility maintenance procedures and processes. Leadership skills. Customer service skills. Problem-solving skills. Knowledge of State Park processes and operations. Certifications in Mechanics, Welding, electrical, plumbing, concrete, etc Must have or be able to acquire a Class A CDL withing 6 months of hire. Jordanelle State Park has all 4 seasons. Sometimes in the same day. You might be digging a trench, doing trail repairs, working on a small engine, or doing computer work in the office. Work may involve physical exertion, including long periods of standing, walking over rough or rocky terrain, and frequent bending, crouching, stooping, stretching, or reaching. A valid driver's license is required to operate a motor vehicle on state highways, per
UCA 53-3-202
(1)(a). The position may also involve exposure to potentially hazardous or unusual environmental conditions, such as extreme weather, remote wilderness areas, or work on watercraft and OHVs. About the Role Location
