As a Building and Grounds Supervisor I. for Huntington, Scofield, and Millsite State Park, you will be part of a team accomplishing a wide variety of construction and maintenance projects on a daily basis. This position services some of the most diverse and beautiful State Parks in Utah. Why you should join our team: The Building and Grounds Supervisor will work with a flexible group of dedicated staff based out of Huntington State Park. The ideal candidate will travel and perform a variety of construction and maintenance tasks at Scofield, Huntington, and Millsite State Parks. The Building and Ground Supervisor is a great benefit to the parks and accomplishes tasks the park's staff doesn't have expertise to perform. Key responsibilities and day to day responsibilities of this position: Work with park staff to provide care and maintenance of park assets. Builds, fabricates or repairs structures, equipment, and/or miscellaneous articles from verbal instructions, blueprints or working drawings. Performs general facility maintenance including carpentry, masonry, plumbing, pipe fitting, and electrical as well as general cleaning and sanitation. Operates heavy construction equipment including Bobcat, mini excavator, auger rig, concrete saw, back hoe, snowcat, and various hand operated excavating equipment. Paints, finishes and refinishes wood, metal and other materials Troubleshoots and diagnoses problems, makes adjustments, repairs and performs preventative maintenance on vehicles, equipment or machinery. Provides technical consultation to originators of project job orders, including development of project plans and related estimates. Principle theories and practices of electricity. Plumbing techniques and methodology. Working knowledge of cement, carpentry and framing. Qualifications Knowledge of construction trades, building codes. Ability to diagnose problems. Maintenance skills and experience to include: electrical, plumbing, carpentry, masonry, and heating and cooling systems. Prior snowcat operation experience Good communication and supervisory experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
Demanding outdoor construction work. Risks found can be unusual environmental with stressful situations, e.g. working at great heights, working in extreme outdoor weather conditions. The work requires considerable and strenuous physical exertion such as frequent climbing, lifting heavy objects over 50 pounds, crouching or crawling in restricted areas and enclosed spaces. Working on docks. Repairing sewer lift stations and fish cleaning stations. CDL (Class A) license required.
