Working with a team you will be responsible for keeping our grounds and buildings in excellent shape. You will supervise volunteers and employees to achieve the goal of creating a clean safe facility for people to enjoy. This position will give you an opportunity to create or further an exciting career with Utah State Parks. This position includes a great benefits package. Key responsibilities and day to day responsibilities of this position: Work with park staff to provide care and maintenance of park assets Performs general facility maintenance including carpentry, masonry, plumbing, painting, pipe fitting, lawn care, and electrical as well as general cleaning and sanitation Troubleshoots and diagnoses problems, makes adjustments, repairs and performs preventative maintenance on vehicles, equipment or machinery. Operates heavy construction equipment including Bobcat, mini excavator, auger rig, concrete saw, back hoe, snowcat, and various hand operated excavating equipment. Builds, fabricates or repairs structures, equipment, and/or miscellaneous articles from verbal instructions, blueprints or working drawings.
Qualifications Responsibilities:
Inspects and maintains facilities, machinery, equipment, systems, etc. Coordinates and completes projects to complete projects to improve and maintain Quail Creek State park. Reviews and/or inspects work for quality, accuracy, and completeness. Schedules and conducts building and ground inspections. Prepares, manages and tracks budgets, pays invoices and ensures state purchasing laws are followed Supervises volunteer and seasonal employees, including training, coaching, and working with people to complete tasks Develops appropriate safety and service plans to alleviate risk, provide protection, etc. Identifies, collaborates and assists in solving maintenance and construction problems and issues.
Qualifications:
A current Class A CDL is recommended. Strong leadership, mentoring, and coaching skills. The ability to communicate effectively through verbal and written means. Skills and training in large equipment operation, including backhoes, skid steers, dump trailers, etc. Skills and training in plumbing, electrical, mechanical, welding, etc. An understanding of government operations, rules, policies, purchasing, etc. Ability to complete projects and plan effectively.
Preferred Qualifications:
The ability to supervise others by communicating effectively, establishing work assignments and effectively evaluating work performance. Must have basic computer skills and experience. Knowledge of equipment and facility maintenance procedures and processes. Leadership skills. Customer service skills. Problem-solving skills. Knowledge of State Park processes and operations.
