We are looking for a knowledgeable, organized Garden Maintenance Manager to oversee client garden care and help ensure every site is thriving and every client is well supported. This is a part-time hybrid role with both field and remote work. A portion of your time will be spent working from home handling scheduling, client communication, and coordination. As our maintenance program grows, this role is expected to expand in hours and responsibility. Role Overview You will be the point person for ongoing garden maintenance clients—ensuring garden health, seasonal success, and excellent client communication. The founder will focus on bringing in new clients and design work, while you ensure existing clients receive consistent, high-quality care. Key ResponsibilitiesGarden & Field Management Oversee and perform garden maintenance visits as needed Manage seasonal planting plans (especially edible gardens + veggie production) Care for California native and drought-tolerant landscapes Apply organic and Integrated Pest Management (IPM) strategies Diagnose plant health issues and recommend treatments or improvements Ensure gardens remain healthy, functional, and visually maintained year-round Client & Office (Remote) Work Respond to client emails and maintenance requests Coordinate scheduling and job planning Maintain clear communication with clients regarding garden status Help organize maintenance calendar and crew assignments Track notes, garden observations, and service updates Qualifications Strong knowledge of California native plants and East Bay climate zones Experience in organic gardening and Integrated Pest Management (IPM) Background in landscape maintenance, horticulture, or garden management Experience with seasonal edible/vegetable garden planning and planting Comfortable working independently and managing multiple sites Strong written communication and client service skills Ability to use basic scheduling/email/project tools (Google Workspace or similar) Schedule & Structure 15-20 hours per week to start Mix of field work + remote administrative work Flexible schedule with coordination requirements Role will grow as maintenance program expands What We Offer $30-$35/hr DOE Flexible hybrid work structure Opportunity to shape and grow a maintenance division Work on beautiful, ecological, and meaningful landscapes Supportive, respectful team culture Direct collaboration with company founder Ideal Candidate You are both a skilled horticulturalist and a reliable organizer—someone who understands plants deeply but also enjoys keeping clients happy, systems organized, and gardens consistently thriving.
