Job Description

Jacobs is seeking a Lead Operations & Maintenance (O&M) Technician to join our collaborative team in Westerly, Rhode Island. As the Lead O&M Technician, you'll work with project staff to maintain the plant operations equipment, laboratory, facility, and collection system as required. Working with other members of our team you'll apply knowledge of the principles, methods and tools employed in the general maintenance of engines, pumps, valves, motors and related equipment, wastewater process control, permit compliance, and safe work practices. You'll also help diagnose operating problems and assist with determining effective correction procedures. When needed you'll schedule and work with outside contractors. You'll prepare required reports, maintain the CMMS, and assure complete recordkeeping procedures as well as perform plant inspections to determine efficiency of equipment, cleanliness, and maintenance activities including remedial action in emergencies; and supervise, evaluate, and train employees.   • Knowledge of electrical systems 480v three phase, VFD's and control circuits.
  • Knowledge of mechanical troubleshooting and repairs including pumps and valves.
  • Five (5) plus years of experience in the maintenance field.
  • Supervisory experience - May include direct reports or overseeing major projects.
  • Excellent oral and written communications, self-motivation, team-oriented work practices, strong technical problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with planning, scheduling, and inventory control.
  • Experience developing and working within an approved budget. Specifically tracking costs, adjusting activities to stay on budget, and optimizing labor and materials.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Experience with using a CMMS for work orders and PMs.
  • Valid State Driver's License with no major infractions. Ideally, You'll Also Have
  • The ability to weld and fabricate.
  • Knowledge of safe work practices; principles and methods of wastewater treatment.
  • Knowledge of principles of budget preparation and expenditure control.
  • Proficient with computer software including data management systems and possess the ability to operate plant PLC's and SCADA systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to engage and motivate teams and to respond to emergency situations.
  • Ability to serve the public and fellow employees with honesty and integrity.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the client, the general public, coworkers, elected and appointed officials.
  • Ability to travel/walk to job sites to develop work plans with technicians and management.
