Job Description

Supervises a crew of General Maintenance Technicians providing maintenance, repairs and renovations to the DOT HQ Building and Parking Garage. Repairs, maintains, and installs HVAC Equipment, Plumbing Equipment, Electrical Equipment, Fixtures and Systems. Repairs and maintains miscellaneous DOT HQs building components to include doors, door hardware, wall finishes and other miscellaneous work. Performs Building Renovations to include interior wall construction, hanging doors, painting, electrical work and other miscellaneous work. Routinely inspects DOT HQs building and assists Building Facilities Maintenance Manager in preparing routine maintenance and preventive maintenance plans, obtain quotes and pay invoices. Assists Facilities Manager and Capital lmprovements in preparing HQ maintenance budgets. Assists Facilities Manager in preparing a Yearly DOT HQs building condition assessment. May be required to drive service truck to locate and pickup supplies. Performs in the place of the Facilities Manager in his absence. Complies with all safety regulations, practices and procedures and take immediate action to stop unsafe practices. Assists in the performance of security guard in their absence, including programming of gates and daily parking. Assists in daily performance and performs in the place of Administrative Assistant absences, including controlling budget and maintenance payroll. Assists in the communication with night shift Contractor to perform special cleaning projects. Performs other related duties as assigned. A high school diploma and one and one-half (1.5) years of trades experience related to the area of employment; or an approved acceptable equivalence. A valid motor operator's license is required. The physical demands for the essential functions involves bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, climbing, balancing, kneeling, pushing, pulling, grasping and physically manipulate objects of varying size, shape, weight, and material. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. May be required to work hours outside the normal scheduled work week; especially during inclement weather and/or other departmental related emergencies.
