Overview:
We are seeking a Maintenance Planner who will support the Asset Management section in the Nonreactor Nuclear Facilities Division (NNFD), Isotope Science and Engineering Directorate (ISED) at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL). The role of the Maintenance Planner is to improve work force productivity and work quality by anticipating and eliminating potential delays through planning and coordination of manpower, parts and materials, and asset availability. A liaison between Operations and Maintenance, they are responsible for planning and coordination of all electrical and mechanical repairs, preventive maintenance, and project work. Planners are also responsible for maintenance records, work histories and equipment data for meaningful performance analysis and failure reporting.Major Duties/Responsibilities:
Review and screen each request for completeness, accuracy and clarity of scope. Develop preliminary estimate if required to obtain approval. Obtain Engineering approval for all equipment alteration and modification requests. Consult with the requester, the Area Team Leader or the Area Engineer as needed to accomplish the requested scope of work. Visit the job site and analyze the job in the field (20- time allocation) to determine special requirements, such as scaffolding, fall protection or confined space entry.

Basic Qualifications:
An AS degree in a science or technical related discipline and 7 years of experience in maintenance equipment, of which a minimum of 2 years must be in maintenance of nuclear equipment, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Excellent understanding of electrical and mechanical systems, NFPA, and NEC codes by combination of direct experience, apprenticeship, or education. Knowledge and skills necessary to identify electrical and mechanical repairs and maintenance requirements.Preferred Qualifications:
BS degree in a technical discipline. 7 years of experience of nuclear sites is highly desired. Familiarity with maintenance activities in a nuclear environment. Familiarity with the regulatory programs which define the facility environment, including DOE Orders pertaining to conduct of operation and maintenance. Practical experience using CMMS and/or ERP software such as SAP, Oracle, Maximo, HxGnEAM, etc. Recognized certifications such asCMRP, RMIC, CRL.
Journeyman training and certification, preferably in electrical. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Motivated self-starter with the ability to work independently and to participate creatively in collaborative teams across the laboratory. Ability to function well in research environment and production environments, set priorities to accomplish multiple tasks within deadlines, and adapt to ever changing needs.Special Requirements:
