Job Description

Overview Join our dynamic team as a 2nd Shift Heavy Truck Maintenance Shift Supervisor and lead the charge in maintaining a fleet of heavy-duty vehicles and industrial equipment. This energetic role offers an exciting opportunity to oversee daily maintenance operations, ensure safety standards are met, and drive continuous improvement within a fast-paced environment. As a key leader on the evening shift, you will coordinate skilled technicians, manage repairs, and uphold the highest quality standards to keep our operations running smoothly and efficiently. Duties Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of the maintenance team working on heavy trucks and trailers. Prioritize work orders, assign tasks, and monitor progress to ensure timely completion of repairs and preventative maintenance. Conduct inspections using schematics, vehicle diagnostics, and technical manuals to troubleshoot mechanical issues related to transmissions, hydraulics, suspension systems, air brakes, HVAC systems, and diesel engines. Oversee fabrication and welding tasks as needed for equipment repairs or modifications using power tools and hand tools. Ensure compliance with safety protocols including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), adherence to OSHA standards, and safe operation of heavy equipment such as excavators, cranes, forklifts, and tractor-trailers. Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, parts inventory, service logs, and repair histories for all vehicles and machinery. Foster a culture of continuous improvement by mentoring technicians in automotive repair techniques like brake repair, wheel alignment, shocks & struts replacement, tire service, electrical troubleshooting, soldering, and general assembly work. Experience Proven experience in heavy equipment operation. Extensive background in automotive diagnostics with a focus on diesel engine repair, transmissions, air brake systems, hydraulics, suspension components, and HVAC systems. Strong mechanical knowledge complemented by hands-on experience with fabrication, welding (including arc welding), soldering and use of power tools. Ability to read schematics accurately for troubleshooting electrical or hydraulic issues. Experience managing maintenance teams or supervising technicians in a fast-paced environment. Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail for recordkeeping and parts management. Demonstrated ability to handle heavy lifting safely while maintaining a focus on quality workmanship.
