Embassy Suites by Hilton Austin Arboretum Reports to: Assistant General Manager / General Manager Position Overview Embassy Suites by Hilton Austin Arboretum is seeking an experienced, motivated, and hands-on Chief Engineer to lead the hotel's Engineering department. Our 150-suite, full-service hotel is preparing for an exciting renovation and is committed to maintaining high standards in both guest experience and property condition. This role is ideal for a hands-on leader with a "will-do" attitude who takes pride in maintaining a safe, functional, and well-kept environment while overseeing the daily operations of the Maintenance department. The ideal candidate leads by example, supports their team, and is willing to jump in wherever needed to ensure the hotel operates efficiently. Key Responsibilities Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Maintenance department Perform and supervise routine maintenance and repairs in guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house spaces Respond promptly to maintenance requests and guest service calls Troubleshoot and repair electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and general building systems Develop and manage preventative maintenance programs to ensure equipment and facilities remain in excellent condition Maintain cleanliness and organization of engineering areas, workshops, and equipment Support renovation and property improvement projects as needed Ensure compliance with all safety standards, policies, and procedures Coordinate with housekeeping, front office, and other departments to address maintenance needs Manage work orders, repairs, maintenance logs, and vendor communication accurately Monitor departmental inventory, supplies, and equipment Train, supervise, motivate, and support maintenance team members Lead with a positive, team-focused, and solution-oriented mindset Qualifications Previous hotel maintenance leadership experience Strong knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and general building systems Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills Hands-on leadership style with a strong work ethic and "will-do" attitude Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities Professional, dependable, and team-oriented attitude Flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays as needed.
