Job DescriptionReporting to the Plant Manager, this role is responsible for the safe, efficient, and effective utilization of maintenance personnel and resources to support all manufacturing operations. Success in this role requires a strong focus on safety, electro-mechanical expertise, GMP compliance, problem-solving, and positive employee relations.
Responsibilities:
Execute maintenance plans in accordance with work schedulesPerform and oversee mechanical, electrical, pipefitting, and rigging workTroubleshoot equipment issues and drive root cause analysisMaintain production systems, utilities, buildings, and groundsRead and interpret prints, diagrams, specifications, and repair instructionsCoordinate emergency and scheduled repairs, including material procurementManage spare parts purchasing through the PO systemMaintain preventive maintenance programs, inspections, and repairs to minimize downtimeSupervise and prioritize shift activities to optimize workforce efficiencyAssign tasks based on employee skills, experience, and trainingLead employee selection, retention, development, performance management, and disciplinary actionsTrain and develop maintenance personnel to enhance technical proficiencyFoster a positive work environment through strong communication, engagement, and morale-buildingReinforce safe and high-quality performance through recognition and feedbackDocument and address performance issues as neededConduct Job Hazard Analyses and ensure full compliance with safety regulations and occupational health standardsDrive and model safety, GMP, environmental, and housekeeping standardsIdentify and eliminate safety, environmental, and operational hazardsEnsure employees are properly trained and equipped to perform work safelyProvide and maintain tools, equipment, and resources in safe working conditionAnalyze maintenance performance and implement efficiency improvementsIdentify cost-saving opportunities and process enhancementsEnsure adherence to corporate policies and operational standardsTrack and achieve key performance indicators (KPIs) for the shift/areaPrepare and submit accurate daily, weekly, and other required reportsCollaborate with facility management to improve safety, quality, reliability, and overall equipment effectivenessWork flexible schedules, including shifts, weekends, and holidays as requiredPerform other duties as assignedQualificationsEducationHigh school diploma or equivalent requiredBachelor's degree in Engineering, Operations, or related field preferred (or equivalent experience)Experience5-7 years of technical maintenance experience, preferably in food processing, packaging, or food safety environmentsPrior supervisory or leadership experience preferredTechnical SkillsProficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Access)Experience with AS400 or similar systemsCompetenciesAccountability

Additional InformationPhysical:
This position requires the ability to lift up to 50 pounds, climb stairs, bend, kneel, walk and stand for extended periods, work in confined spaces, and work at heights all within a manufacturing environment. Perform work in indoor and outdoor environments, including exposure to noise, dust, weather, and potential hazardsMust possess appropriate sensory awareness (sight, hearing, touch, etc.) to respond to plant conditions, including alarms and environmental changes.
