Job Description
General Manager The General Manager oversees the daily operations of the diesel repair shop and field work, ensuring high-quality service, efficient workflow, profitability, and customer satisfaction. This role manages technicians, service advisors, and administrative staff while maintaining safety standards, controlling costs, and driving business growth. Key Responsibilities Manage all day-to-day shop/ field operations and ensure efficient scheduling of repairs and maintenance. Supervise and support diesel technicians, service writers, and office personnel. Monitor productivity, labor efficiency, and shop performance metrics. Ensure repairs meet company quality standards and customer expectations. Develop and maintain strong relationships with customers, fleet accounts, and vendors. Oversee inventory management, parts ordering, and equipment maintenance. Prepare and manage budgets, financial reports, and operating expenses. Hire, train, coach, and evaluate employees to build a high-performing team. Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, environmental standards, and company safety policies. Resolve customer concerns professionally and promptly. Implement strategies to improve profitability, efficiency, and customer retention. Coordinate with owners or executive leadership on business planning and operational goals. Qualifications 5+ years of management experience in diesel repair, heavy equipment, fleet maintenance, or automotive service. Strong knowledge of diesel engines, diagnostics, and repair operations. Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills. Experience with shop management software and estimating systems. Ability to analyze financial reports, budgets, and key performance indicators. Valid driver's license; CDL is a plus. Preferred Skills Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities. Customer service and conflict resolution experience. Knowledge of inventory control and vendor management. Ability to lead multiple teams in a fast-paced environment.
