Job Description

Service Manager Reports To:
General Manager Job Overview:
This position is responsible for overseeing employees and daily operations within the service department. Their duties include creating customer work Orders, Dispatching field Service Technicians, assigning work orders to shop Technicians, working with parts department to make sure items needed for a work order are delivered when needed, hiring and overseeing training for technicians, speaking with customers who have complex questions. Candidate will be working directly with customers and managing the technicians who support customers. The Service Manager must be able to perform independently with little supervision. The ability to manage multiple priorities is essential for this position. The Service Manager must have engine/generator business knowledge and demonstrate initiative, attention to detail, sense of urgency, commitment to team work, and enthusiasm for serving the customer.
Responsibilities and Duties:
  • Build business model and customer relations in the engine/generator industry.
  • Working directly with distributors and manufacturers
  • Delivering prompt, professional solutions for customer inquiries
  • Working directly with salesman in territory
  • Manage projects and scheduling delivering prompt, professional solutions for customers
  • Hiring, training and managing service technicians
  • Review and approve all outgoing bids for repair of customer equipment.
  • Responsible for company's safety program to include monthly meetings, documentation, safety reports, and all other matters related to safety.
  • Responsible for monitoring and maintaining records of all the tools and equipment assigned to division.
  • Representing the opinions and suggestions of the customers to the company so the company has feedback from its customers
  • Suggesting improvements to customer service to higher management and staff
  • Implementing improvements to customer service
  • Assist company management with special projects as needed.
Qualifications:
  • Specific industry experience desired or an equivalent college degree.
  • Excellent communication skills, strong organizational skills, and the ability to multi-task are required.
  • Computer skills including experience with QuickBooks and the MS Office suite of programs is preferred.
