Job Description

AI AUTOWORKS
Round Rock, TX | Austin Metro
GENERAL MANAGER
$70,000 - $80,000 base + performance bonus | Full-Time | On-Site $70k-$80k Base Performance Bonus Austin Metro Full-Time On-Site Read this carefully before applying. We are not looking for someone to keep the lights on. We are looking for someone who treats revenue performance as their personal scorecard — who closes gaps before month-end, holds a team accountable without creating resentment, and sees opportunities that other people miss. If that describes how you operate, keep reading. If not, this probably is not the right role. About AI Autoworks AI Autoworks is a premium automotive services shop in Round Rock, TX serving the greater Austin metro.
We operate two specialty brands:
Austin Interiors — auto and boat upholstery, Katzkin leather, and custom restoration — and Ai Auto Spa — Paint Protection Film, ceramic coating, window tint, paint correction, and detailing. We have been in business for over twenty years, generate over $1 million in annual revenue, and have built a reputation for quality craftsmanship and customer loyalty. We are a small, focused team. This is not a corporate environment. Every person here has direct impact on what we build and how we operate. Why This Role Exists The owner currently runs all day-to-day operations — scheduling, customer communication, estimates, vendor relationships, and team management. This role exists to take those responsibilities off his plate entirely so he can focus on growing the business. Once you are established, he should not be pulled into daily problem-solving. That is the point. This is a full operational ownership role. The right person will run the shop, own the revenue number, and manage the team like it is their own business — because in a meaningful way, it will be. What You Will Own Revenue Performance Track monthly revenue against targets and close gaps proactively — not reactively Handle all inbound estimates and customer consultations using consultative selling — read the customer, build value before quoting, close confidently Identify upsell and add-on opportunities on every job Reactivate past customers and drive repeat business Team Management Oversee upholstery technicians and detailing staff day-to-day Hold the team accountable for utilization, quality, and punctuality — consistently and without drama Identify performance issues early and address them directly Create an environment where strong performers want to stay Scheduling and Job Flow Own the schedule from booking through delivery — no job falls through the cracks Maximize tech utilization by sequencing jobs intelligently Maintain a healthy forward pipeline — never caught flat-footed at the start of a month Cost Management Actively look for ways to reduce operating costs without sacrificing quality Manage material ordering accurately — minimize waste and over-ordering Manage vendor relationships — negotiate where possible, hold suppliers accountable Track material margins and flag when costs are running high Reporting to Owner Weekly pulse check on revenue pace and any operational issues Monthly scorecard review — no surprises Own your agenda. Come prepared. Surface problems early. What We Are Looking For Must-Haves Demonstrated experience managing a small team with real accountability for outcomes — not just supervising people Revenue-minded — you think in numbers, you track your own performance without being asked, and you know how to close a gap Accountable — you own results, not just effort. You do not make excuses when numbers are missed. Strong communicator with customers — professional, clear, and confident building value in a conversation Reliable and punctual — you model the behavior you expect from your team Able to earn respect from skilled technicians who do not respond well to being managed from behind a desk Nice-to-Haves Background in automotive services, dealership service departments, or a related trade industry Experience with scheduling or dispatch software Familiarity with CRM tools — GoHighLevel experience is a genuine bonus Experience managing vendor relationships and materials procurement Compensation Base salary of $70,000 to $80,000 depending on experience, plus a monthly performance bonus tied directly to shop revenue. The bonus structure creates real upside — the right person in this role has a clear path to $95,000 to $120,000+ annually based on performance. Full bonus details are provided at the interview stage. Bonus eligibility begins Day 31. There is no cap on earnings at the top performance tier. The First 30 Days Structured ramp period — shadow, side-by-side, independent with daily check-in, full handoff. You will not be thrown into the deep end. You will also not be coddled. By Day 31 you own it. What This Role Is Not A caretaker position — we are not looking for someone to maintain the status quo A shop foreman role — you are managing the full operation, not just the techs A role where you wait to be told what needs fixing — you see it and handle it A stepping stone for someone who really wants to be a technician How to Apply — Please Read Before Submitting Send a resume and a short note — email, text, or Indeed message is fine.
In your note tell us:
(1) what team or operation you have managed and how many people, (2) what revenue or performance metric you were personally accountable for, and (3) why this kind of role appeals to you right now. Generic applications without a note will not be considered. We are looking for someone who reads this posting and thinks: that is exactly the kind of role I have been looking for. If that is you, we want to hear from you.
Pay:
$70,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
Benefits:
Employee discount Application Question(s): How many people have you directly managed? Describe a specific revenue or performance target you were personally accountable for. What was it and did you hit it? This role requires on-site presence in Round Rock, TX five days a week. Can you confirm you are able to meet this requirement?
