Required Qualifications:
Applicants must specifically address how they meet these required qualifications to meet the requirements of the position. Familiarity with plant operations, boilers, emergency power systems, related laws, regulations, industry standards, and institutional policies.
Experience with maintenance practices, troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, safety procedures, testing equipment, and specialized tools.
Ability to read and explain blueprints, schematics, technical drawings, specifications, and OEM documentation.
Experience planning, prioritizing, managing workloads, meeting deadlines, and preparing reports and business documents.
Experience supervising staff and coordinating with employees, contractors, consultants, and campus stakeholders.
EPA Section 608 Universal Certification, as required for servicing equipment containing regulated refrigerants.
Preferred Qualifications Supervisory background in a central utility plant, industrial facility, higher education campus, or similar setting.
Familiarity with utility plant systems, including chilled water, heating hot water, steam, electrical distribution, emergency generators, transfer switches, and
NFPA 110
compliance.
Background managing preventive maintenance through a CMMS and coordinating inspections or regulatory compliance for boilers, pressure vessels, and related equipment.
Experience reviewing construction documents and coordinating with contractors, engineers, and project managers.
Technical certification or equivalent education and background in a maintenance-related field.
Job Description The Supervisor, Plant Maintenance is responsible for overseeing the maintenance of Thermal Plants, ensuring timely repairs, availability of parts and supplies, and the upkeep of maintenance reports and preventive maintenance records.
Job Duties Analyze and update maintenance records.
Establish and update a preventative maintenance (PM) program.
Supervise and evaluate staff.
Review construction plans and projects regarding plant equipment and emergency generators.
Routinely schedule maintenance and inspect the various plants.
Schedule and oversee
NFPA 110
emergency generator inspections.
Act as an intermediary with contractors on the university's behalf.
Conduct preventative maintenance on generators.
Coordinate and schedule State of Texas boiler inspections.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Additional Information to Applicants Monthly, the applicant will be required to be on-call outside of regular working hours and must also be available to work extended hours for special events or to meet critical project deadlines.
