Job Description

Service Manager Supervises:
Bussers, Dishwashers, and Bar Staff as Manager on Duty.
Summary:
The Service Manager at Leona Cafe Bar is the dedicated leader responsible for perfecting the guest experience and maintaining the pristine condition of the venue's front-of-house (FOH) and botanical grounds. This role focuses heavily on overseeing all aspects of guest interaction, ensuring the hospitable performance of the service team and bar staff, and directly managing, training and leading the service team. The Service Manager is the on-site champion of Leona's premium service and environmental standards.

While we aim for work-life balance, this job requires the availability and commitment to work potentially 45+ hours/week, weekends, holidays, mornings, middays and evenings, as needed.

Staff Management:
Bussers & Service TeamBusser Training & Supervision:
Directly manages, trains, and supervises the busser/support staff team. Focuses training on maintaining Leona's impeccable standards for cleanliness, hospitality, and efficiency.
Busser Deliverables:
Ensures the busser team consistently executes key duties:

Maintaining a presentable appearance and uniform adherence.

Wiping down tables, sanitizing guest areas, and bussing glassware/dishes promptly.

Rearranging tables/chairs as designated on floor plan.

Keeping floors clear of trash and debris, and managing trash containers.

Regularly checking and restocking cleanliness and supplies in restrooms and hand-wash stations.

Providing support to the bar by managing dishwashing, polishing glassware, and resupplying clean glassware.

Being knowledgeable enough to answer common guest questions about the business and grounds.
Scheduling:
Creates and manages the weekly schedule for the busser/support team, ensuring optimal coverage for cleanliness and service support while managing labor costs.
Opening/Closing:
Directly manages the support team's completion of comprehensive opening and closing duties, guaranteeing the entire venue is impeccable and ready for service or securely closed down, up to Leona's standards.

General Operations, Compliance & CommunicationShift Leadership:
Acting Manager on Duty. Directly working with and supporting the management team.
Operational Compliance:
Ensures all FOH and support operations comply with Leona Cafe Bar's policies, procedures, and local health/safety regulations.
Incident Reporting:
Promptly and accurately reports any incidents involving guests, staff, or property damage to the General Manager.
Daily Communication:
Maintains clear and consistent communication with the General Manager and other managers regarding shift summaries, service observations, and staff performance. Provide end-of-day reports.
Qualifications & Requirements:
Experience:
Minimum of 3-5 years of progressive experience in a supervisory or management role within the hospitality industry (restaurant, bar, or cafe).Demonstrated experience in training and managing support staff (bussers, runners, hosts).
Knowledge & Skills:
Expert-level knowledge of service flow management and exceptional guest relations best practices.

Proven ability to lead, coach, and motivate a diverse team, with a strong focus on maintaining quality and hospitality standards.

Excellent communication, interpersonal, and conflict-resolution skills.

Familiarity with facility maintenance and presentation standards, particularly for unique outdoor/botanical spaces.

Strong organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.

Ability to work independently and make sound decisions under pressure.

Proficiency in scheduling software and basic operational systems.
Certifications:
Valid Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission (TABC) certification is mandatory.

Valid Texas Food Manager's certification (or ability to obtain within 7 days of hire).
Availability:
Flexibility to work various shifts, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays, as business needs dictate.
