Job Description

Recreation Department Part-time/Non-exempt Reports to Assistant Recreation Director $13-$18/hour
DOQ GENERAL PURPOSE
The Building Supervisor works under the general supervision of the Assistant Recreation Director. Weekly hours are part-time, year-round, not to exceed 20 hours per week. Weekly hours may vary depending on the season and department programming. Typical hours would be Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 4 PM to 10 PM (can be flexible). Responsibilities would include, but not be limited to, preventative maintenance in the facility, assisting with program setup and cleanup as needed, building security, assisting rental groups, and helping with program setup and cleanup. Additional duties include organizing the weight room, wiping down machines, light janitorial duties, and assisting front desk staff with any customer service issues. The ideal candidate must be a people person and have the ability to problem-solve, and be proactive when working alone.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION / CERTIFICATION
High school degree or GED preferred
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
Prior experience is a plus, but not required
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE
Knowledge of basic cardio/weight machines Ability to perform minor repairs and replace broken parts Knowledge of computers and recreation programs
SKILLS / ABILITIES
Must possess good public relations skills and quality customer service skills Must possess good oral and written communication abilities Ability to understand written and spoken instructions Ability to operate basic machines Ability to lift 50 pounds Willingness to learn and follow instructions
CONDITIONS
This position is expected to serve the public through maintaining and supervising the evening operations of the recreation center and may be required to work in adverse weather conditions. This person will assist with front desk needs as well as maintain fitness equipment. They will be expected to lift, carry, and manage equipment and supplies. They may be required to stand for extended lengths of time during a shift. They may have to work odd or long hours at a time to complete special requests or projects. Hours may include weekends and some holidays. Hours may vary as the season and activities dictate, with a maximum of 20 hours per week. This position may also, at times, participate in strenuous physical activities, both indoors and out.
