Job Description

The ideal candidate will provide and maintain excellent customer service and be the frontline service contact for our external customers. You will supervise customer service as well as being able to provide assistance to customers. The service manager is responsible for profit and employee retention. Being the service manager, you play an essential role in customer relations by providing efficient problem-solving and building lasting relationships. You will serve as a liaison between customers who need repairs performed on their boats and the technicians who will provide those repairs. While developing strong relationships with customers as a service manager, you must understand their problems and be committed to solving them. Service managers translate their customers' needs into work orders for technicians, prepare quotes for customers and bill customers when work is complete. Responsibilities Maintain a positive attitude while leading a team in an efficient and productive manner Anticipate service associate needs using proper leadership techniques and proven problem-solving methods Manage all external service providers and review yearly contracts as needed to be able to maximize profitability Monitor top tier customer problems to ensure a high level of response time and proper problem resolutions Develop a marketable service catalog for customers Monitor time cards and maintain fair schedules while tracking the calendar for holidays and emergency changes Provide excellent customer service from intake to release of boat, and perform any additional follow up Listen carefully to customer descriptions and assess the boat to determine the best repair plan Advise the customer on the boat repairs that you recommend and offer a pricing quote Communicate with parts sellers and technicians to make sure everything needed is on hand Provide updates to customers as their work is completed Answer detailed questions about services performed and price information Maintain customer records by keeping all files organized Schedule appointments over the phone Qualifications Basic math and accounting knowledge Strong understanding of marine mechanics and the ability to identify appropriate repairs for boat problems Ability to break down complicated marine or industry topics into understandable advice meant for customer understanding Advanced computer and data-entry skills Organizational and record-keeping skills Ability to stand, walk, and sit. Have a teamwork mindset in the workplace and accept feedback on your work Understand the typical format of company schedules in order to manage time efficiently Ability to multitask, work in high-stress settings and offer flexible hours on your schedule
