Position Summary The Maintenance & Engineering Manager plans, directs, and leads the plant engineering functions and facility maintenance. This role supervises and schedules the maintenance staff to ensure production and support equipment operates at maximum efficiency. The ideal candidate will develop tools, techniques, and systems to drive equipment uptime and utilization, reduce unplanned downtime, and manage capital expenditure projects in support of continuous improvement and safety. Main ResponsibilitiesMaintenance & Asset Reliability Direct, schedule, and oversee the repair and maintenance of machinery, tools, and energy sources to support a 24/7 continuous production environment (includes on-call responsibilities). Utilize data to determine predictive/preventative maintenance needs and implement systematic problem-solving methods to determine root causes of equipment issues. Manage parts procurement, specify equipment purchases, and ensure appropriate storage of maintenance and operations inventory. Coordinate necessary actions, bidding, and compliance regarding the use of outside contractors. Engineering & Capital Projects Propose, plan, coordinate, and monitor major capital investment and expenditure projects involving equipment acquisition, installation, modification, and maintenance. Manage project implementation from concept to completion in support of plant optimization. Maintain and update plant drawing libraries and technical maintenance reference documentation (CAD). Safety, Compliance, & Environmental Stewardship Assure a safe, organized, and clean working environment for all employees by maintaining strict accountability for plant housekeeping and safety standards. Conduct audits and sampling, maintain regulatory data, and submit all required corporate, state, federal, and local environmental reporting. Utilize resources to ensure 100% compliance with all occupational health, safety, and environmental regulations. Team Leadership & Continuous Improvement Supervise, schedule, coach, and direct the maintenance staff to maximize productivity and technical skill growth. Administer plant policies and procedures in a fair, consistent manner. Drive continuous improvement initiatives across both the maintenance team and physical plant assets.
Position Specifications & Requirements Education:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical field is required. Experience:
5+ years of experience in plant engineering and maintenance management. Technical Knowledge:
Extensive hands-on knowledge of electrical and mechanical maintenance with a solid working understanding of skilled crafts. Regulatory Familiarity:
Strong working knowledge of occupational safety, health, and environmental policies/procedures related to full plant operations. Software & Tools:
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook). CAD experience is highly desirable. Core Competencies:
