Job Description

Property Manager / Maintenance Support Flexible Part-Time Position, The Center for Health and Human Development (CHHD) About us: We are a small nonprofit based in Harrisonburg. Since 2012, our services have focused on purchasing, renovating, and managing rental properties where very low-income people with histories of homelessness and disabilities, as well as immigrant families, can find and maintain affordable, stable housing. We are looking for a dependable, caring person with maintenance skills to help oversee 4 homes and support our mission of safe, affordable housing for the people who live in them. The property manager is a part time contractual, non-employee position, 5 to 10 hours/week. Pay is $30 - $35/hour depending on experience and abilities. The property manager will track their own hours and submit invoices on a regular basis, every 2 to 4 weeks for both hours of labor and reimbursement of any materials costs. This position is ideal for a retired handyman, maintenance worker, contractor, or someone with general property management or construction experience. We welcome applications from anyone who wants meaningful, flexible work that gives back to the community. Job responsibilities include but are not limited to: Collecting monthly rent from each of 4 houses. Responding to emergency repair/maintenance needs and basic home repairs Prioritizing maintenance and repair needs and clarifying with CHHD's affordable housing program administrator the priorities and projected costs. Arranging for specialist contractors to come in as needed for major repairs/work (plumbing or electrical, etc.). Coordinating and communicating with contractors as needed. Keep basic records of maintenance and repairs, including all receipts. Identify maintenance issues before they become larger problems. Help keep homes safe and comfortable for residents. Attend rare staff meetings as needed. Assist with tenant concerns in a respectful and professional manner. Ideal Candidate Organized, dependable, and good with people Good communication and problem-solving skills Experience with handyman work, maintenance, construction, or property management Comfortable working with people from different backgrounds Desire to support affordable housing and make a positive impact in the community Bilingual skills (Spanish/English) are a plus but not required.

$30.00 - $35.00 per hour
