Assistant Manager, Crane Maintenance Norfolk, VA Job Details Full-time 1 day ago Qualifications Report writing TWIC Card Workflow management (operations management method) Safety regulations Writing skills Staff scheduling Mid-level Performance management High school diploma or GED Team development Driver's License Bachelor's degree Continuous improvement Task prioritization Decision making Staff training Industrial equipment repair Labor contracts Workplace health and safety regulatory compliance Equipment maintenance Maintenance management 1 year Team motivation (leadership skill) Communication skills Staff development Full Job Description The Opportunity The main objective of this position is to supervise daily team activities of mechanics in the maintenance and repair of various types of cranes and equipment that may include Ship-to-Shore cranes, remote/automated/piloted stacking cranes, trans-lifters, and shuttle trucks.
What You'll Do:
Responsibilities Promotes safety awareness amongst team members and maintains compliance with all safety procedures, policies, and regulations. Responsible for assigning labor to each specific job as outlined by management. Coordinates preventative and corrective crane repairs during the assigned shift. Exercises independent judgment to reassign labor as needed to execute repairs on equipment that comes down during the shift. Develops and maintains reports for all assigned tasks and work started and/or completed during the shift. Ensures compliance to labor contracts and agreements. Trains staff on policies and procedures. Provides ongoing feedback and coaches team members through issues or escalations. Exercises independent judgment to make efficient decisions to break for meals, "cut," or "roll-through" labor in order to meet organizational goals. Monitors work to ensure employees are following established crane maintenance guidelines and procedures. Leads and develops employees in a manner that drives operational excellence, continual improvement, and teamwork in accordance with organizational goals. Provides feedback to leaders and assists in decision-making. Accountable for identifying and ordering correct parts and scheduling repairs per best-known practices. Oversees scheduling and responsibly directs workflows within the team. Prepares and submits detailed disciplinary reports documenting employee performance issues, contract and/or policy violations, along with recommendations for disciplinary action to management. Attends management meetings per rotation with other ACMs. Follows dress code policy for ACMs. Performs other duties as assigned. The Port of Virginia is a 24-hour, 7-day-a-week, 365-day-a-year operation, schedule and location may vary based on the needs of the operation.

Continued education or Bachelor's degree in related field preferred. Licenses, Certifications, and Credentials Valid driver's license; Transportation Worker Identification Credential, Technical Certification required. Work Experience Five years of related experience required or Bachelor's degree in related field; One year of experience in leardership capacity reqiored.
