Maintenance Lead Technician 871 East Queen Street, Strasburg, VA 22657
Full-time Full-time Position Summary:
The Maintenance Lead Technician will be responsible for overseeing all maintenance activities (for the facility and all the equipment) at our recycling plant, ensuring optimal equipment performance, safety compliance, and operational reliability. This role will lead maintenance technicians and support the plant operations through preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement initiatives. This position will be based onsite at our Strasburg, VA plant and will report directly to the Industrial Engineering & Maintenance Manager.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Lead, coach, and direct maintenance technicians to ensure timely and effective completion of maintenance activities Perform and oversee preventative and corrective maintenance on plant equipment, including hydraulics, pneumatics, and electrical systems Prioritize safety by enforcing strict adherence to safety protocols and fostering a culture of safe work practices Ensure equipment reliability and minimize downtime through proactive maintenance planning and execution Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and operational issues to maintain production continuity Coordinate with external vendors and contractors for specialized maintenance, repairs, and training Conduct routine inspections of equipment, systems, and facilities in compliance with regulatory requirements Maintain accurate documentation of maintenance activities, inspections, and repairs Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance equipment performance Support installation, commissioning, and upgrades of plant equipment Communicate maintenance status, risks, and priorities to plant leadership Ensure appropriate safeguarding of equipment and cable to avoid injury or damage Comply with safety protocols/environmental regulations/labor laws at all times Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or technical certification in maintenance, mechanical, electrical, or related field (technical degree preferred) Minimum 3-5 years of maintenance experience in manufacturing or recycling environments Hands-on experience with hydraulics, pneumatics, and electrical systems Advanced understanding of general maintenance procedures and techniques Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving and project management skills with team-oriented, collaborative demeanor Exceptional track record of managing maintenance programs/projects Leadership or mentoring experience preferred Strong commitment to workplace safety and operational reliability Reliable, self-motivated, and team-oriented Possesses strong written & verbal communications, time management, and interpersonal skills Self-motivated with ability to prioritize, meet deadlines, and manage complex/changing priorities Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Excel) Physically capable and available to work weekends, public holidays, and evenings as needed
