Position Overview:
Responsible for managing and directing the daily operations of the Building Maintenance Department. Performs a variety of skilled tasks in one or more building trades—such as painting, carpentry, minor electrical work, drywall, and other recognized crafts—to maintain, repair, and remodel OIC of Washington-owned and operated facilities.
Essential Duties:
Establish staffing goals and communicate job expectations; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results; coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; initiating, coordinating, and enforcing systems, policies, and procedures. Maintains a safe and healthy working environment by establishing and enforcing organizational standards, adhering to legal regulations, and all agency safety policies. Directs, prioritizes, and assigns workloads for subordinate personnel to ensure efficiency and timely completion of tasks. Conducts annual and biannual performance evaluations for all assigned staff and ensures supervisors or managers complete evaluations for their teams in a timely manner. Sustains information systems results by defining, delivering, supporting information systems, and auditing application of systems. Directs operations in executing production tasks according to a documented schedule that meets or exceeds program needs. Produces a detailed timeline for each application release and implements effective project control by monitoring the progress of the software release and reporting the status. Participates in all hardware and software evaluations and maintains contractor and vendor contracts. Assesses information systems results by auditing application of systems. Enhances information systems results by identifying information systems technology opportunities and developing application strategies. Safeguards assets by planning and implementing disaster recovery and back-up procedures, information security, and control structures. Accomplishes financial objectives by determining service level required; preparing an annual budget; scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiate corrective action. Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, benchmarking state-of-the-art practices, and participating in professional societies. Maintains all agency vehicles to high operating and safety standards. Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed. Keeps the CBT informed on all requests for major work orders and the constant state of the maintenance department. Facilitate frequent team meetings and task/project follow-ups. Delegate incoming work orders from the ticketing system. Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
Special Knowledge and abilities: Ability to communicate technical concepts to technical and non-technical audiences. Ability to utilize Microsoft Office Suite for communication and project tracking purposes. Excellent people skills, including maintaining composure and calm during stressful situations, such as disciplinary and discharge actions. Demonstrate the ability to identify complex problems and review related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions. Demonstrated ability to utilize sound judgment, work effectively and calmly under pressure, and maintain a high level of confidentiality. Demonstrated ability to effectively manage multiple complex projects with critical deadlines and motivate staff. Ability to use deductive reasoning skills. Able to demonstrate a genuine concern and respect for all cultures and diverse populations served by OIC. ?
