Requirements:

High school diploma or equivalent, valid driver's license, experience preferred but willing to train upon hire. Able to walk long distances, bend, stoop and lift up to 50 pounds. Be able to work in all weather conditions and be able to recognize animal behavior and signs of aggression.

About the role:

A water meter techs job is to read and record water meter readings and to ensure accurate billing for water utilities. They may perform other tasks that pertain to the upkeep of the meters and readings.

Responsibilities:

Reading meters: Report accurate numbers read off the meter in residential, commercial, and park areas. Tech will have a monthly list of meters to read printed off by the city collector each month. Tech will write the current readings on the list and return them to the city collector when completed. Readings need to be completed at the same time each month.

Compare readings:

Tech will compare current readings to previous readings to ensure accuracy.

Report on irregularities:

Tech will report on any irregularities they find such as inoperative, defaced, abnormally high or low reading, or bypassed meters

Customer Service:

Techs will answer customer questions and resolve complaints. Tech may then report back to the City Alderman of complaints that were not resolved on site.

Repairs:

Techs may need to repair or replace small water meters in the field. They may also fill out work orders on meters that are no longer in use, water lines that are leaking, water pits that are broken or missing pieces, pits that need to be cleaned out or have roots growing through them.

Pay:

From $250.00 per month
