GENERAL DEFINITION OF WORK
: Under general direction of the Utility Field Operations Superintendent, the AMI Crew Supervisor, performs the more technically demanding installation, inspection, testing, maintenance and repair of electronic metering equipment and performs other field-related metering services in accordance with departmental procedures, processes and established safety protocols. This position works in a supervisory position over all work of AMI Meter Techniciansand is able to work independently providing skilled service/maintenance field metering services with minimal supervision.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
: The following statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work required in this classification. They are not intended to be an exhaustive list of all responsibilities, duties and skills required of personnel so classified. Supervises AMI Meter Technicians, assigning routes, dispatching work, and providing technical assistance on meter reading devices and AMI software. Ensures the safe, timely, and accurate completion of subordinate AMI Technicians' field service duties, including maintenance, testing, and providing field metering services for self-contained AMI meters. Trains new AMI Meter Technicians and provides ongoing training as needed. Performs all AMI Meter Technician duties, plus more complex skilled maintenance and repair. Uses AMI software for installation, programming, reading, troubleshooting, diagnosing, inspecting, and replacing AMI meters and transmitting devices. Handles technical and mechanical work for AMI water meter and valve installation, repair, and maintenance, including testing and flow tests. Identifies and records AMI water meter conditions or malfunctions requiring repair and completes work orders. Investigates unusual water meter readings and customer complaints, re-reads meters, and reports discrepancies or malfunctions. Operates a personal computer for customer data entry, retrieval, review, or modification using various software. Answers general customer questions in the field. Notifies customers of non-payment and issues cut-off notices. Interacts with other City of Germantown departments as required. Follows departmental safety protocols, procedures, and processes. Must be punctual and timely in all job performance requirements, including: attendance, tardiness standards, and work deadlines. Performs other assigned duties.
OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS
: Performs related tasks as required. Review and handle citizen complaints regarding AMI meter performance and services. Support additional Utility Field Operations maintenance requirements if required. Qualifications
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
: Knowledge of water meter maintenance. Knowledge of geography and street locations of the City and layout of meter locations. Knowledge of water billing practices. Knowledge and ability to utilize computer equipment to include AMI and GIS mapping software. Knowledge of basic RF propagation transmissions. Ability to acquire knowledge of methods, materials, and techniques used in repairing or replacing water meters, meter boxes, stops and connections. Skill in oral and written communication. Ability to read and interpret water system maps. Ability use tools and equipment used in repairing or replacing water meters, stops, and connections at tradesman level. Ability to operate handheld devices and read and record data rapidly and accurately. Ability to make complex arithmetic calculations. Ability to train subordinate AMI Technicians on all AMI maintenance procedures. Ability to work courteously and effectively with co-workers and the general public and to communicate one-to-one. Ability to work in a variety of weather conditions with exposure to the elements. Ability to travel across rough, uneven or slippery surfaces to check meters. Ability to work independently and to understand and carry out written and oral instructions. Ability to walk for extended periods of time and considerable distances and possess other physical ability necessary to perform essential job duties. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
: High School or GED, minimum two years' experience as meter reader, working knowledge of computer operation; or any combination of education, training, and experience providing the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform essential job functions.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Employee is regularly required to stand, stoop, walk and use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls. Work involves moving heavy objects (50 lbs. or more) short distances. Required to work outdoors exposed to inclement weather conditions and occupational hazards such as heat, cold, dampness, fumes, automobile traffic and possible attacks from animals, insects, and reptiles. Occasional office setting working to review work orders and customer records.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
