Cooper Demolition Job Type:
Full-Time Travel Required Cooper Demolition is actively seeking a highly experienced demolition equipment operator to join our team. We are looking for operators with strong experience in structural demolition, commercial demolition, civil/site demolition, and heavy equipment operation in demanding project environments. This is not an entry-level position. Candidates must be capable of safely and efficiently operating equipment in high-risk demolition environments while maintaining production, awareness, and strict safety compliance. We work on commercial, civil, and federal projects throughout Colorado and other states. Professionalism, reliability, flexibility, and the ability to adapt to changing jobsite conditions are critical for this role.
Responsibilities:
Operate demolition equipment including excavators, skid steers, loaders, and other heavy machinery Perform structural, selective, and interior demolition activities Safely demolish concrete, structural steel, masonry, asphalt, foundations, and related materials Operate hydraulic breakers, shears, grapples, crushers, and other demolition attachments Work around active utilities, structures, and occupied environments safely and efficiently Perform excavation, grading, loading, and material handling as required Conduct daily equipment inspections and basic preventative maintenance Work closely with foremen and project management to maintain schedule and production goals Follow all OSHA, federal, and site-specific safety requirements at all times Assist with manual demolition labor and physical site work when required
Qualifications:
Minimum 5+ years of demolition equipment operating experience required Strong experience with structural and commercial demolition projects required Experience on federal and high-security projects strongly preferred Ability to operate equipment safely in tight and complex environments Experience working around underground utilities and live structures preferred Ability to read plans, elevations, and demolition drawings is a plus Strong understanding of demolition sequencing and safety procedures Must be physically capable of performing manual labor as required on demolition projects
Priority Hiring:
Candidates currently holding a valid Denver demolition license will receive priority consideration
Position Flexibility:
This position requires flexibility. Operators must be willing to assist with selective interior demolition and other field activities during periods between large structural demolition projects or when total demolition work is temporarily limited. We are looking for team members willing to do what is needed to keep projects moving and support overall operations.
Federal Project Requirements:
Must have a 100% clean background (background checks required) Must pass pre-employment and random drug testing Must be eligible to work on federal and secure-access job sites Must maintain professional conduct and appearance on government projects
Travel Requirements:
Travel is mandatory for this position Projects may require both in-state and out-of-state travel Must be willing to stay out of town as needed for project duration
