Perform skilled work in the maintenance and repair of equipment and facilities operated by Columbus Water Works. Assist in performing preventive, predictive, regular and unscheduled maintenance and repair on all mechanical equipment at facilities. Dismantle equipment to gain access and to remove / replace defective parts; perform routine and preventive maintenance on functional parts of devices and equipment; assemble, install and maintain piping systems and related hydraulic and pneumatic equipment; dismantle, clean, lubricate, repair / replace shafts, bearings, gears, impellers, other parts of pumps, motors, chemical feed systems and other equipment. Inspect and test pumps, motors, valves, piping systems, backflow preventers, air compressors, dewatering equipment, sludge removal equipment, tanks, mixers, trash screens, vacuum systems, oil accumulator systems, chemical feed equipment, odor control systems, filters, and HVAC systems. Perform maintenance on water tanks, water booster stations, and sewage lift stations. Enters time, materials, and pertinent data into MAXIMO as work orders are completed. Performs related duties as required.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Perform skilled work in the maintenance of water and wastewater equipment as directed and scheduled by the Managed Maintenance Department and Computerized Maintenance Management System. Respond to equipment failures and performs repair on equipment. Required to be in the monthly "On Call" rotation Dismantles equipment to gain access and to remove / replace defective parts Perform routine and preventive maintenance on functional parts of devices and equipment Assemble, install and maintain piping systems and related hydraulic and pneumatic equipment Dismantle, clean, lubricate, and repair / replaces shafts, bearings, gears, impellers, other parts of pumps, motors, chemical feed systems and other equipment. Troubleshoots and evaluates devices to test performance Communicates with supervisor for the requisition of parts needed to perform job duties Safely and expertly uses equipment and tools to perform maintenance on equipment, including but not limited to drill press, grinders, hand tools, power tools, welders, cutting torches, saws, etc. Inspect and test pumps, motors, valves, piping systems, backflow preventers, air compressors, dewatering equipment, sludge removal equipment, tanks, mixers, trash screens, vacuum systems, oil accumulator systems, chemical feed equipment, odor control systems, filters, HVAC systems Perform job duties associated with the generation of work orders in MAXIMO. Enter time, materials, and pertinent data into MAXIMO as work orders are completed Must be able to work in lift stations up to 90' below ground level using ladder or safety harness to perform required maintenance Must be able to climb water tanks up to 165' highQUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

High School graduation or GED required. Possession of valid driver's license and good driving record required. A minimum of two years of experience in industrial plant maintenance required and/or any combination of education and experience which provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities required. Technical School training courses in mechanical trades and specialized training in relation to water & wastewater treatment equipment maintenance preferred. Must read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedures manuals required. Must write routine reports and correspondence required.LANGUAGE SKILLS

Must add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Must compute rate, ratio, percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Must read and interpret blueprints, to a limited degree.REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply commonsense to carryout instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving variables in standardized situations.PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Must be able to climb 165 feet above ground and work up to 90 feet underground required, accessing by ladders or safety harness to perform maintenance required.WORK ENVIRONMENT

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts and is regularly exposed to risk of electrical shock. The employee is frequently exposed to vibration. The employee occasionally works in high precarious places, confined spaces, in outside weather conditions and is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The employee regularly works with and around chemicals to include chlorine and fluoride, associated tanks, piping and chemical feed systems commonly found in the water and wastewater industry.
