Job Description

Overview Maintenance Millwright is responsible for the installation, troubleshooting, maintenance, and precision repair of all industrial machinery and mechanical equipment within the paper mill, ensuring maximum operational efficiency and minimizing downtime in a continuous production environment. This role requires expert-level mechanical skills and strict adherence to safety and quality standards. Key ResponsibilitiesMaintenance and Repair Execution •
Mechanical Troubleshooting:
Expertly troubleshoot mechanical issues , diagnose complex machinery failures, and perform corrective maintenance on heavy industrial equipment, including but not limited to pumps, agitators, gearboxes, conveying systems. •
Precision Maintenance:
Perform advanced mechanical work such as pump alignment, bearing replacement, coupling installation, and seal repairs, ensuring all tolerances and OEM specifications are met. •
Specialized Tool Usage:
Use specialized tools such as welders (TIG, MIG, Stick), hydraulic bolting equipment, laser alignment tools, and torque wrenches to accurately align and replace machine parts and structural components. • Preventative Maintenance (PM): Execute routine maintenance tasks and preventative maintenance work orders in a timely fashion to sustain operational efficiency and equipment longevity, documenting all work in a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS). •
Fabrication and Rigging:
Safely rig and execute the relocation of machinery both on- and off-site, as required. Perform in-shop and in-place fabrication, modification, and repair of metal components following engineering blueprints and schematics. Safety, Compliance, and Efficiency •
Safety Adherence:
Strictly adhere to all safety policies and procedures, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), Confined Space Entry, and Fall Protection protocols. •
Work Area Standards:
Maintain a clean and safe work area , performing necessary housekeeping duties, which includes cleaning machinery and changing light bulbs or fixtures as needed to support a compliant environment. •
Resource Management:
Focus on conserving maintenance resources by identifying waste, recommending improvements, and using tools and supplies efficiently and responsibly. •
Documentation:
Complete work orders and maintenance requests thoroughly and accurately, providing clear details on repairs, parts used, and time spent. Required Qualifications •
Education:
High School Diploma or GED required. Completion of an accredited Millwright/Industrial Mechanic apprenticeship program or equivalent military training is highly preferred. •
Experience:
3+ years of experience as a Millwright in a heavy industrial, continuous process, or manufacturing environment (experience in pulp/paper is a significant asset). •
Technical Skills:
Proven proficiency in precision measurement tools, reading blueprints, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, rigging, welding, and power transmission components. •
Certifications:
Valid provincial or state Millwright certification/license (if applicable). Welding certification is a plus. •
Physical Demands:
Ability to lift heavy objects (up to 50 lbs.), stand for long periods, and work in elevated and confined spaces, as well as environments exposed to noise, heat, dust, and humidity. Working Conditions • This role operates in a 24/7 industrial environment and may require working rotating shifts, weekends, holidays, and extended hours based on maintenance and emergency needs.
