Job Description

Millwrights Millwrights Local 1176 Millwrights Local Union #1176 is looking for journeyman and apprentice millwrights to join our team. We have various upcoming and ongoing employment opportunities within the following industries... Food & Beverage, Agriculture, Manufacturing, Power Generation and AI Data Center projects with our partnering signatory employers across North Dakota, South Dakota and Minnesota Journeyman millwright duties and responsibilities
  • Perform job tasks safely with safety being a priority.
Must be familiar with OSHA regulations and work in full compliance with company safety procedures. Follow all required safe work practices including lock-out tag-out and confined space requirements while wearing of all required PPE in designated areas. Must be good at adhering to strict safety guidelines and have strong awareness of safety risks.
  • Our millwrights will use a variety of hand and power tools in performing duties to install, maintain, repair and troubleshoot industrial machinery, conveyors, mechanical and rotating equipment.
  • Read and understand with practical knowledge of mechanical drawings, diagrams, schematics, to determine specific work procedures to perform required maintenance, service, layout and installation.
  • Using machinery or equipment, such as overhead cranes, hoists, forklifts, dollies, rollers and trucks to move machines by rigging into place.
  • Fit bearings, align gears and shafts, attach motors, connect couplings, install & maintain pumps and process piping to precise tolerances.
  • Align and test equipment with precision tooling and make any necessary adjustments to the .001 of an inch. Repair and/or replace defective parts. Service and repair hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
  • Weld, braze, solder and cut a variety of materials.
This includes welding using the
GMAW, GTAW & SMAW
processes. Work experience & education
  • Journeyman level candidates should have 10 years of documented experience within the trade.
Since this is a technical position, Millwrights with minimal experience may gain necessary training and experience through our registered DOL (department of labor) millwright trade specific apprenticeship program. Candidates need to have at least a high school diploma, GED or prove a minimum of 1500 hours industry specific experience to enter the apprenticeship program. Candidates that have completed an associate's degree in industrial maintenance are encouraged to apply. Skills and Abilities
  • Excellent mathematical skills and strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to be a team player due to interactions with customers such as Engineers, Facility Managers, and Vendors amongst others.
  • Proficient knowledge of power/hand tools operation.
  • Millwrights need to have excellent manual dexterity, as the job involves the handling of parts large and small in confined areas at times.
  • Lift and carry a minimum of 50 pounds.
  • Maintain a professional appearance.
  • Ability to communicate and work cohesively with others.
