S. We are seeking a skilled Millwright to join our team in Columbia, PA. In this hands-on field service role, you will install maintain, troubleshoot and repair waste compators, balers and associated equipment at customer sites. This position plates a critical role in ensuring reliable operation of our equipment, minimizing downtime, and delivering exceptional services to our clients in commercial, industrial, distribution and recycling facilities.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform precise installation of new waste compactors, balers, auger compactors, conveyors, hoppers, and related material handling systems according to blueprints, schematics, and manufacturer specifications. Conduct field service visits to diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues on installed equipment; troubleshoot problems efficiently to restore full functionality. Carry out preventive maintenance, repairs, overhauls, and component replacements including bearings, seals, shafts, motors, hydraulic systems, and structural elements). Align, level, and anchor machinery; fabricate or modify parts as needed using welding, cutting, and machining tools. Test equipment post-installation or repair to verify proper operation, safety, and performance. Travel to customer locations throughout the eastern U.S. as required (some overnight stays involved); maintain a valid driver's license and willingness to operate company vehicles. Document service activities, parts used, and job details accurately in company systems. Collaborate with customers, sales teams, and internal engineering/support staff to address equipment needs and provide technical guidance. Adhere to all safety protocols, OSHA regulations, and company policies while working on-site or in the shop. Assist with equipment refurbishments, rentals, or other shop-based tasks when not in the field. Qualifications & Requirements Proven experience as a Millwright, Industrial Mechanic, Field Service Technician, or similar role (3+ years preferred). Strong mechanical aptitude with hands-on experience installing, maintaining, and repairing heavy industrial machinery, preferably waste handling equipment (compactors, balers, shredders, conveyors, or similar). Knowledge of hydraulic systems, electrical controls/motors, welding/fabrication, rigging, precision alignment, and blueprint reading. Ability to use hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and diagnostic instruments effectively. Comfortable working at heights, in confined spaces, and in varied industrial environments. Valid driver's license with clean driving record (CL a plus but not required). Willingness and ability to travel regionally with occasional overnight stays (travel frequency varies based on customer needs). High school diploma or equivalent; technical/vocational training or millwright apprenticeship/certification strongly preferred. Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and commitment to safety and quality workmanship. Excellent communication and customer service skills for interacting with clients on-site.
