Heavy Equipment Welder

Lehigh Anthracite Coal LLC is looking to add full-time first and second shift heavy equipment welder(s) to join our current in-house welding department. This position will work in a field setting at our ~8,000-acre active surface mines and preparation plant in Tamaqua, PA. Our operations are currently located in Schuylkill and Carbon County.

Job Description:

The heavy equipment welder will work out of their company service truck working in the field and on-site repair shop(s) doing planned welding repairs/rebuilds on off-road heavy mobile equipment excavator buckets, bulldozer blades, haul truck beds, plant equipment pipe(s), motors etc., according to layout, sketches, blueprints or work orders. Assist mechanics with major component changeouts and repair unplanned breakdowns on our equipment fleet. Lehigh has over 100 pieces of mobile equipment across 3 mine sites, spare equipment buckets, blades at all sites so we can properly maintain our equipment. Our +140 employees currently work two production shifts Monday through Friday. We also have other in-house mechanics and technicians that assist repairs, rebuilding and changing out of major components.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Efficient in welding utilizing both shop and portable welding machine(s).
• Use oxygen and gas cutting torch.
• Ability to work alone and well with others.
• Ability to understand and apply verbal and written work and safety-related instructions and procedures in

English Preferred Qualifications:

• Previous heavy equipment welding experience, preferably in a mining/industrial environment.
• Stick, mig, welding experience. Plasma cutting, hard facing.
• Experience welding on excavator, bulldozer, haul truck heavy equipment repair.
• Understanding of surface mining operations, MSHA.

Criteria/Conditions:

Must be able to work in a potentially stressful environment. Work is performed in a surface mine or plant setting, which may include exposure to extremes in temperature and humidity, moving mechanical parts, risk of electrical shock, toxic chemicals, explosives, fumes or airborne particles. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand, sit, demonstrate manual dexterity, climb stairs and ladders, and work on elevated platforms. May be required to work extended shifts or weekends.
