Job Description
Job Description SummaryAs a Steam Turbine & Generator Technical Field Advisor, you will maintain and perform mechanical technical services scope and provide on-site technical direction on Steam Turbine and Generator systems for utility and industrial power plants. You are accountable to review and maintain execution as per equipment engineering documents and work procedure, conduct troubleshooting of the plant equipment and systems. You may be assigned other duties to help proactively drive our GE vision and align with our organization's core values.
Job DescriptionRoles and ResponsibilitiesPerform mechanical work on Steam Turbines, Generators, and Valves following safety procedures, with high quality and on time.
Plan, coordinate, and perform the disassembly, inspection, and reassembly of turbine, valve, and generator parts.
Read and understand technical drawings and documents, including manufacturing drawings, P&IDs, and schematics.
Work closely with team members, contractors, and customers to support smooth site and outage activities.
Support pre-outage planning and post-outage closeout, including outage documents, reports, and other required records.
Contribute to customer satisfaction by providing reliable field service and understanding how the work supports overall business goals.
Required QualificationsTechnical or university degree, relevant qualifying experience, or a High School Diploma / GED with at least 3 years of experience in a Field Services role.
At least 2 years of experience in the power industry, including utility, industrial, hydro, oil and gas, turbine generator maintenance or equipment installation.
Good working knowledge of Steam Turbine, Valve, and Generator mechanical systems and components.
Practical experience in dismantling, inspection, and reassembly of mechanical equipment during outages or maintenance activitiesAbility to read and understand manufacturing drawings, P&IDs, and schematic diagrams.
Good teamwork and communication skills, with the ability to work well with internal and external stakeholders.
Strong skills in documentation and report writing.
English proficiency required. Desired CharacteristicsAbility to work independently while maintaining close coordination with broader project and site teams.
Strong commitment to safety, quality, and operational excellence.
Ability to work under outage schedules and time-sensitive site conditions.
Organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple site activities effectively.
