No Location CountySuffolk Street Address123 Kings Park Blvd. CityKings Park StateNY Zip Code11754 Job Specifics Duties DescriptionA Trades Generalist performs journey-level work in one trade, and skilled and semiskilled level work in a combination of other trades in the repair and maintenance of facilities and equipment. Incumbents may supervise others in maintenance, repair, installation, and construction activities. A Trades Generalist uses the hand tools, portable power tools, shop equipment and measuring and testing instruments appropriate for the craft or crafts to which assigned.
  • Working knowledge of methods, material, tools and equipment used in the craft or crafts to which assigned.
  • Working knowledge of applicable standards and plumbing and electrical code regulations.
  • Ability to use the tools, machines, equipment and material of the craft or crafts to which assigned.
  • Ability to train and supervise others.
  • Ability to plan and lay out work and diagnose problems.
  • Ability to understand and carry out written and oral instructions.
Typical work to include, HVAC maintenance/repairs, BMS monitoring, building construction/repairs, electrical installations/repairs, plumbing installations/repairs, fence and gate installations/repairs, concrete walk construction, drywall installation and finishing, interior and exterior building painting, landscaping and snow removal. Minimum QualificationsFour years of full-time experience in a trade under a skilled tradesperson which would provide training equivalent to that given in a training, apprenticeship, or equivalent program; or an equivalent combination of experience and training gained by completion of technical courses in skilled trades at a school, institute, or branch of the Armed Services. When required to operate motor vehicles, candidates must possess a valid New York State driver's license appropriate for the type of vehicle to be operated.

This position will perform most of their job duties in the outdoor work environment. Must have a valid driver's license or demonstrate the ability to meet the transportation needs of the position. Use of personal protection equipment, including a respirator, will be required. Must be able to negotiate difficult terrain. Must be able to work in remote areas. Must be able to work in adverse weather conditions. Travel may be required. Overtime may be required. Overnight travel may be required. Weekends and holidays may be required. Must be available for emergency response. Must be available to respond to after-hours emergencies.
