Company Overview Levitated Metals owns and operates a recycling facility in New Caney, a suburb of Houston. Levitated uses a proven density flotation technology to separate aluminum from other metals produced by the scrap metal industry. Job Description The Maintenance Technician position will be responsible for repairing equipment in the Heavy Media Plant as well as in the LIBS Plant that produces quality products with minimal downtime. The role is for first shift, which will begin between 5am - 7am Monday-Friday with Saturdays as necessary. Our plant requires repairs on piping, chutes, conveyors/belting, pumps, valves, and mobile equipment. A millwright background is a plus. This position will report to the Maintenance Lead and be part of a 20 person production team. The role is Hourly, and eligible for overtime. Occasionally you could be asked to perform duties not listed here, or fill in for an employee that has a different job description. Key responsibilities Replace defective parts or adjust clearances or alignments of moving parts. Make repairs on pumps, chutes, conveyors, or other types of equipment within the plant by using hand tools, welding machines, hoists, jacks and other various hand and power tools. Complete P.M.'s by greasing bearings, adjusting pump packing, and replacing oils in gearboxes. Reordering of spare parts, scheduling downtime, and communication with 3rd party contractors. Skills & experience The successful candidate will have many of the following traits: Demonstrates a good working knowledge of safety rules and best practices, and assures facility compliance with OSHA, EPA, and other regulatory agencies. Required to follow all safety policies and procedures, wear PPE and promote a 24/7 Safe Culture. Will be able to weld and use standard fabrication equipment. Can effectively work within a larger production team, coordinate the efforts of less skilled helpers and work within and improve a preventative maintenance program. Complete routine inspections for misalignment, wear, and defect and conduct routine maintenance tasks with limited interruptions to production. Inspect, install, rig, modify, remove, and repair motors, belts, sensors, safety guards, etc. Maintain belt conveyor systems. Maintains a safe, clean, and orderly working area. Will be able to learn the technology and become an expert on the flotation process and equipment. This includes electric motors, pumps, conveyors, and mobile equipment. The equipment is a continuous production system, like an oil or gas processing plant, where an issue in one spot may show up somewhere else. The candidate should have experience with troubleshooting and repairing mechanical and electrical systems in an industrial setting. Have successfully operated fixed processing equipment, such as in a refinery, bottling plant, pump station, or other similar operations. Will be able to run multiple types of mobile equipment, e.g., forklift, man lift and front-end loader. Ability to evaluate worn equipment and develop a plan from start to finish of the repair (parts, labor, timeline and coordinating with operations on downtime.) Job requirements and other details Must be able to work outside normal business hours and weekends as needed. Ability to climb stairs and ladders, reach, squat, tolerate prolonged sitting/standing, balance, bend from trunk, operate mobile equipment, push and pull objects Lift objects of various dimension and weights Ability to operate hand controls with both hands Ability to operate foot controls with both feet Ability to tolerate working outdoors in all environmental temperatures and weather Ability to work in cramped quarters Ability to work in areas with the potential for high noise levels Climb in and out of lift or wheel loader as needed. Climb OSHA approved stairs and ladders to work platforms. Hear and see problem indicators that warrant attention/repairs Shoveling, sweeping, picking up trash, painting and general cleanup of plant areas Identify and lead the charge for any training that is deemed necessary.
Pay:
