Job Description

Our Utility Operators play a critical role in maintaining a safe, clean, and efficient manufacturing environment while gaining valuable hands-on experience with industrial equipment and maintenance activities. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on work, takes pride in maintaining a safe workplace, and is interested in growing into future opportunities within operations, maintenance, or equipment operation. What You'll Do As a Utility Operator, your primary responsibility will be maintaining housekeeping standards throughout our pellet manufacturing facility while supporting production and maintenance teams as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform routine and emergency cleanup of wood dust, debris, and material spills throughout the facility. Maintain clean and safe work areas around conveyors, motors, platforms, catwalks, stairwells, and production equipment. Operate industrial vacuum systems, blow-down hoses, brooms, shovels, and other housekeeping equipment. Assist with material buildup removal to help prevent equipment blockages and downtime. Support maintenance personnel during equipment shutdowns, repairs, and preventative maintenance activities. Perform basic mechanical tasks under supervision, such as assisting with equipment inspections, lubrication, and minor repairs. Learn plant systems, equipment functions, and safe operating procedures. Identify and report unsafe conditions, equipment concerns, and housekeeping issues. Participate in safety meetings, training programs, and continuous improvement initiatives. Assist other departments as directed to support plant operations.
What We're Looking For Required Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED preferred. Ability to work safely in a manufacturing or industrial environment. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physically demanding work. Ability to climb stairs, work at heights, and navigate industrial work areas. Strong work ethic, reliability, and willingness to learn. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous experience in manufacturing, industrial operations, construction, agriculture, mechanical work, or maintenance. Basic mechanical aptitude and experience using hand tools. Experience operating industrial equipment or heavy machinery. Desire to develop into future maintenance, operator, or leadership opportunities. Why Work for Woodville Pellets?
