Job Description

Disassembly Technician Bidell Gas Compression 1400 Main Street Weirton, WV 26062 Position Summary The Disassembly Technician reports to the Assembly Supervisor & Lead Hand. This position is responsible for disassembling natural gas compressor packages and related equipment in preparation for shipment. This includes safely removing components, preparing systems for transport, and ensuring all parts are properly labeled, protected, and documented. This role requires strong mechanical and millwright aptitude, as well as experience working with lifting equipment and cranes, while maintaining strict adherence to safety and quality standards. Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Include but are not limited to the following)
  • Disassemble compressor packages, piping systems, and components for shipment according to work instructions and specifications
  • Read and interpret basic engineering drawings, P&IDs, and general arrangement drawings
  • Safely remove piping, tubing, valves, and mechanical components for transport
  • Tag, label, and organize parts to ensure proper identification and reassembly at destination
  • Cap, plug, and protect open lines and components to prevent contamination or damage
  • Prepare equipment and components for shipping, including securing and staging materials
  • Use hand tools and power tools to perform disassembly tasks
  • Perform millwright-type work including mechanical disassembly, alignment awareness, and handling of rotating equipment
  • Safely operate overhead cranes and rigging equipment to move and position components (as trained)
  • Inspect components for damage and report any issues prior to shipment
  • Complete required documentation related to disassembly and shipping preparation
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
  • Follow all safety procedures, including PPE and LOTO requirements
  • Participate in toolbox meetings and safety training
  • Comply with and promote all company PPE requirements
  • Perform other duties as assigned Qualifications
  • Minimum of 1 year of mechanical or industrial experience preferred
  • Millwright experience or mechanical disassembly experience strongly preferred
  • Experience in manufacturing, assembly, or disassembly environments preferred
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Basic ability to read blueprints or technical drawings preferred
  • Familiarity with hand tools, power tools, and mechanical equipment
  • Experience with rigging and overhead crane operation required (certification preferred)
  • Strong attention to detail and organization skills
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Willing to work overtime and weekends as required Competencies
