Greenfield Engineering, a Saalex Company is seeking a Engineering Technician III in Patuxent River, MD. Position Summary:
The Engineering Technician III provides mid-level technical support across test, integration, and operational environments, assisting engineers in maintaining, troubleshooting, and improving electronic and mechanical systems. This role supports system lifecycle activities including fabrication, configuration, integration, testing, and sustainment, with a strong emphasis on hands-on technical execution and troubleshooting. This position bridges engineering design and operational execution by ensuring test assets, cabling, and hardware systems are fully functional, properly configured, and ready to support mission and program requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
Test & Lab Support Maintain, configure, and troubleshoot test benches and hardware systems to ensure operational readiness Support test execution, data collection, and system validation activities Assist engineers in diagnosing and resolving hardware and integration issues Fabrication & Installation Fabricate, assemble, and repair cables, wiring harnesses, and electronic components in accordance with technical drawings and standards Perform hands-on installation of electronic/mechanical systems and supporting infrastructure Troubleshooting & Maintenance Identify, isolate, and resolve faults in electrical, RF, and networked systems Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on lab and field equipment Configuration & Integration Ensure systems are configured to required baselines for testing and operations Support integration efforts across hardware, software, and network components Coordinate with engineering teams to support upgrades, modifications, and system improvements Technical Documentation Read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and technical manuals Document work performed, configurations, and troubleshooting actions Collaboration Work closely with engineers and cross-functional teams (e.g., software, systems engineering) to resolve issues and support program objectives
Requirements Required:
4-8 years of hands-on technical experience supporting engineering, lab, or field environments. Experience with test benches, system troubleshooting, or integration environments. Strong ability to read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical drawings. Experience with cable fabrication, wiring harnesses, and electronic assembly. Familiarity with test equipment (e.g., multimeters, network analyzers, RF tools). Troubleshooting of electrical, RF, or communications systems. Demonstrated ability to build, repair, and maintain hardware systems. Experience supporting integration and operational test environments. BS/BA degree required.
Desired:
Experience supporting DoD/Navy programs or test environments. Familiarity with aircraft, communications, or shipboard systems.
Certifications such as:
IPC/WHMA-620 or J-STD soldering RF systems, radios, or communications equipment. Fiber optics and cable testing/splicing.
Security Clearance:
Active Secret clearance required. Requirements to obtain a clearance include US Citizenship, security investigation, etc.
Education:
