Job Description
About the Role As an Industrial Refrigeration Specialist, you will serve as a key technical expert responsible for the integrity and efficiency of complex cooling systems. You will leverage your expertise in ammonia-based systems and electrical controls to ensure operational uptime, perform advanced diagnostics, and mentor junior staff to maintain high safety and performance standards. Responsibilities Optimize refrigeration system parameters, including superheat, pressure settings, and defrost cycles, to maximize energy efficiency. Conduct deep-dive troubleshooting on mechanical, electrical, and PLC-based control systems to identify and resolve root causes. Execute complex component replacements and system repairs while strictly adhering to LOTO and Process Safety Management (PSM) protocols. Perform precise calibrations on critical instrumentation such as RTDs, pressure transducers, and slide valves. Oversee the quality and compliance of work performed by external contractors and internal team members. Maintain comprehensive maintenance logs and asset health data within the CMMS platform. Conduct routine safety inspections to ensure full alignment with OSHA regulations and internal safety standards. Required Skills High school diploma or GED equivalent. 5+ years of hands-on experience in industrial refrigeration, specifically with ammonia systems. Proven proficiency in troubleshooting PLC and industrial control systems (e.g., Allen Bradley). Current HAZMAT certification or ability to obtain and maintain it. Experience utilizing Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) for documentation. Preferred Skills Professional certifications such as RETA CIRO or CARO. Prior experience within large-scale cold storage or distribution facilities. Demonstrated ability to mentor and train technical staff on complex systems.
