A Day in the
Life:
As a Refrigeration Technician, you will be responsible for maintaining critical building infrastructure and refrigeration systems in a warehouse setting. Your role includes performing repairs and preventative maintenance on a wide range of equipment including ammonia refrigeration systems, forklifts, conveyors, and material handling devices. You'll support safe food storage operations by following a maintenance control schedule, ensuring all equipment meets company and regulatory standards, and responding promptly to alarms and facility needs. You will document all maintenance activities and collaborate with team members to ensure the workplace remains organized, safe, and efficient. For candidates who meet leadership qualifications, responsibilities may also include training technicians, directing team performance, and reviewing documentation prepared by team members. What You Bring to the Table Technical Experience and Safety Knowledge
Direct experience with refrigeration operations, specifically ammonia systems, is central to this role.
You are mechanically adept, understand warehouse vehicle maintenance, and follow established safety and food safety procedures.
You're capable of handling minor facility repairs and performing diagnostics across multiple systems. Organizational and Physical Capability
You maintain accurate logs, handle scheduled tasks responsibly, and adapt to a physically demanding environment that includes lifting up to 100 pounds, climbing ladders, and navigating confined or elevated spaces. Communication and Collaboration
You communicate clearly with your team and management, report unsafe conditions appropriately, and contribute to an orderly and contamination-free environment in accordance with the Food Safety Management System.
Core Requirements:
Must be 18 years of age or older
High School Diploma or equivalent
Operator Level I Certificate in Ammonia Refrigeration
2-5 years of equipment maintenance experience
2-5 years of refrigeration maintenance and operations experience
1 year of MHE (Material Handling Equipment) fleet experience
Ability to follow work procedures, safety rules, and food safety standards
Ability to read, understand, and follow instructions
Ability to lift up to 100 pounds and work at elevated heights
Appropriate coordination to safely operate tools and equipment
Basic mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and carpentry knowledge
Ability to perform basic math and write numeric and alphanumeric records
Ability to pass Department of Transportation exam and mechanical aptitude test
Ability to stand, walk, bend, crouch, stretch, and climb throughout the shift
Ability to maintain legible, accurate documentation Preferred Requirements (Leadership Capacity):
Experience assigning tasks and delegating fairly across team members
Ability to train new and current Refrigeration Technicians
Competence in evaluating performance within a team or work group
Ability to make sound decisions and communicate operational standards effectively
